Blood test

Bloody chemo brain has gripped me again ! I have chemo tomorrow and my husband just made me realised that I forgot to have my blood test done. Will they still do chemo tomorrow ? Need some advice, my chemo is at 9:30 in the morning but I have to travel to Bathurst from Lithgow leaving at 8:30 and can't get them done in the morning
  • Yay claratyne worked only a little soreness in my neck and shoulders, just like I slept wrong. No other aches or pains
  • Yes feeling ok, got claratyne for the aches and pains from the whites cell needle ,gonna try it fingers crossed lol. I had my needle tonight and I gotta say getting my brother to give me the needles is this best thing I did as he is so good at doing it that compared to most nurses I don't even feel it. My doctor told me yesterday that I will start feeling side effects more now I've had the 3rd lot of ac but I'm feeling better this time compared to the 2 no dose the I even drove my car today where as I was feeling bad last time it took me 4 days before I had the energy to drive. I hope it continues
  • All good took your advice and left earlier, my husband said to ring Daffodil Cottage when they opened and my nurse got on the phone and said to come in when we get to town and she will draw the samples and get it expressed thru pathology. All said and done I was to start chemo after the doctor around 10 and I eventually started 10:20 so I wasn't really held up at all.
I love all the staff at Daffodil Cottage especially my doctor, Lauren Bradbury and my nurse Felicity.
  • @Michelle49 I too had bloods checked day of Chemo, they did rush them through so you could start asap. Yas!! Chemo brain LOL its shocking!!!! it takes a long time even post treatment but it does improve alot!!! I never thought it would but to where I was and Im 20 months post chemo now really doing better mentally.
  • Don't stress, they will wait until the results come through, it may just mean sitting around for a while longer. Its not like they are going to send you home or start without you :)
This sort of thing happens all the time, many hospitals do the tests the day of treatment routinely anyway.
  • Yep...as the ladies say...go and have your blood test...they can get your ready...jelco etc and justcwait on results.
  • Yes,  go to  pathology at Bathurst Base Hospital before your chemo. (They open early. )
Let them know its for your treatment at Daffodil cottage. The nurses will chase results if they haven't turned up by the time you have your appointment.

  • Can you leave a bit earlier and get it done at the hospital when arrive before chemo? I always had my blood test done on the morning of chemo at the hospital. The results would always be rushed through. That was at a big Sydney hospital, but worth ringing up now and just checking if they can do it. If you arrived at the hospital an hour early they should be able to do them.
    Good luck.
