Well I finished all my treatment at the end of February now just trying to get back to normal .Just wondering have any one experience blood noses after their treatments never had a blood nose in my life and now have them regularly .
All good Di....this was after my last chemo in May! But the week after that I ended up back in the ER again....I fainted in the bathroom and made another V.I.P trip!.....can't say I'll miss that chemo biatch!
I do suffer from bleeding noses....season change, too hot etc.....
But I had the mother of all bleeding noses...as well as little ones here nad there....while on chemo.
Ended up calling the ambo and off to hospital with 'tampons" in my nose!
Initially it bleed non stop for nearly two hours.....then on and off in the hospital before they shoved some gauze soaked in some sort of acid that finally stopped it! 4.5 hours later i was allowed home.....
I did mention this to my Onc, she didn't seem to worried as I didn't have large bleeds regularly....mention it to your team though, just so they have a record....
I also had a dry, irritated bloody nose while on Taxol, made worse because I have lost all the tiny hairs in my nose, making it more sensitive. I have 4 more rounds to go, so hope it will get better after that. I also use a "nose oil" (I think the brand is "Fess"), especially last thing before I go to bed. It helps. As someone else said, if they are full on blood noses with lots of blood loss, it would be worth seeing a dr and maybe having it cauterized.
Chemo affects blood vessels I have a condition already that makes my.capilllary rupture so sonce I started AC I have been dealing with recurring nose bleeds plus have been having capillary rupture all over my body - constantly so very unimpressed...
If your problem is getting worse see an ENT specialost as it could be a large blood vessel that is damaged and they may need to burn it off...
As suggested keep it moist plus good old vaseline helps... Also as winter and.col.air maoe things worse on damaged capillary as soon as the weather improves and it warms up it should start to get better
I had a bloody nose (in all respects) while I had Taxol - Taxol affects soft tissue particularly. My nose would bleed, blood would congeal, congealed blood started it bleeding again. All lovely when you are trying to work or do anything that dripping blood will impair or render ridiculous.
Vaseline helped. Afterwards my nose stopped bleeding and got very dry - nose oil (who knew there was such a thing?) helped a lot - it's finely purified sesame oil from the chemist!!
It stopped pretty well exactly when I stopped Taxol - but till then Vaseline, lots of tissues and patience.
