Auxillary Node Clearance on Wednesday

Hi Ladies,

I'm a little worried about my surgery on Wednesday I'm having an ANC and I don't quite know what to expect after it, I've heard the recovery takes longer than the Lumpectomy and SNC which I still have some slight pain sometimes but I think that's just Muscular and my Breast Nurse said It's normal but this surgery has me a little scared, I'm glad he moved my surgery forward from the 4th of August I won't get so Anxious now. I guess I'm just feeling mixed emotions right now, I have to get my bag ready for the hospital and prepare for step 2 I suppose just another stepping stone to recovery but sometimes I can't see the future I try and my friends think I'm so strong and Inspirational but if only they knew how I was feeling on the inside, my best friend keeps telling me I need to grieve and have a cry maybe I do as I have never done that, sorry if I'm getting anyone down but I'm feeling really low today. I'm sending cyber hugs everyone's way.

  • Hi Tracey,

I'm feeling a little scared as to what to expect after surgery pain, infection etc. I have an excellent breast care nurse who I am in constant contact with, how long after the anc do you start chemo? as I have to have chemo, radio and hormone therapy I just want to move to the next step of my journey, sending big cyber hugs your way. Anita

  • Hi Rowdy,

I don't know how I would get through this difficult time without the support from everyone on here as no one really knows how you feel unless they are on the same journey as you and I feel that no one really understands except when I talk to everyone on this site it makes the journey so much easier I'm a little scared about the surgery but I have a fantastic breast nurse I can always talk to if I have any questions and I do have one I want to call her today and my surgeon is calling me today with what time I have to be at the hospital on Wednesday etc, he's a fantastic surgeon and what worries me the most is the recovery process as I've heard some ladies have it easier than others and so far it hasn't been to bad but everyone thinks I'm so brave but they don't know how I feel like on the inside sometimes you wish why me well I suppose just another pothole in the road I'm looking forward to seeing my friends today as they have been so supportive you need that, talk to you soon. Sending you a lot of hugs Anitaxxx

  • I just read some of the other horror stories about other ladies having infections and so on with their SNC. I had a fantastic result. No infection. No pain. I truly hope you get the same result as me. It is possible. im hoping for the best for you.

  • I had my SNC on the 23rd of June. There was less pain due to the drain. I had a lot of weirdness in my nerves. It's gone now but it was the worst side effect. and not that bad, a bit upsetting but not painful. The exercises helped, also resting my arm helped. So it didn't trigger the weird nerves. I found the second time around easier.

i still can't believe I have cancer. I have occasional moments when it feels real. It's just too odd. My theory is that I can only grieve my old life in small bits. I will come to terms with this one day, but not any time soon at this rate!

    best wishes.

Hi Anita, sending you support for your surgery. I've had an auxiliary clearance along with a mastectomy. Make sure that you do all the exercises that they give you, as it does help. Keep in touch with your breast care nurse also, as mine had been really helpful. Sending you a BIG cyber cuddle, Trace ??

  • Hi Anita it is normal to have mixed emotions it is a long trip with twists and turns along the way. Maybe it will help to cry we are all so different , my emotions were everywhere during treatment, even now. I hated it when people told me how strong  I was, I just took it one day at a time, some good some bad. Take care of yourself and don't feel guilty about having a vent this is what this site is all about. I know it hard to think there is no end but you will get there. Sending you a big hug and a huge smilexx
