Aromatise inhibitors

after 3 years I'm struggling with the side effects of Femera- recently changed to Aromasin. Suffer from foot pain on soles of feet which means a trip to the shops can end up with very painful feet. My oncologist can't come up with a solution. Has anyone been told why this occurs, and does anyone have a solution to the problem?

  • Hi

I have been on Femara for nearly 4 years with no pain effects (some other side effects but not aches or pains). I did get sore and damaged feet (toes, soles and heels) however through peripheral neuropathy which is not uncommon with Taxol and related chemotherapies. I used to dread anyone standing on my toes!  My oncologist suggested Vitamin B, and it helped considerably. So I guess it's a case of a) trying to pin down the cause (which is sometimes really difficult) and then trying remedies that other people find useful. Your oncologist or GP can easily advise if anything is not a good idea, otherwise it's worth a shot. Good luck.

  • That may help too! Ive been on Vitamin D since finishing Chemo 1yr now, I also take Magnesium powder in water everyday as it aides with over 300 enzymes in the body to regenerate and Vitamin C. Others have mentioned taking Turmeric as its an anti inflammatory and Ginger too. x
  • I've just been looking up other suggestions- I think I should go back on vitamin D and maybe try Accupuncture. Sorry about what your going through. I know it's hard to stay active.
  • I suffer the exact same thing, Im however 1yr post chemo and 1yr on Arimidex now. Originally they said my foot pain has come from Chemo, though I was told the Arimidex causes joint pain, so I think I have both still at play causing havoc. Somedays you just get so fed up! Im like an old lady when I walk, ridiculous! BUT onward I go and I guess I try to manage it as best I can. Melinda xo
