Aromatase Inhibitors

Hi @berry, I am not in Melbourne but I do have a medical background. I don't think anyone here could guarantee that a particular oncologist would definitely keep you on AIs for 7.5yrs. Has your own oncologist said no to you regarding AIs for more than 5 yrs? If so why? Have you asked your GP for a referral to another oncologist for a second opinion?

I agree with @Cath62. I have been with my MELBOURNE oncologist for 10 years and think he is good, also very up to date with research. But I could not, and would not pre-empt his recommendations for any patient. I will
have been on Letrozole for 10 years come May (and will stop then) but that’s his recommendation for me, with my cancer, my age, my risks. I assume you have asked your oncologist why he/she wants to stick to 5 years and there is some disagreement between you. A second opinion might help clarify matters, one way or another. Every treatment plan is tailored to the individual.   Some are 5 years on Aromatose Inhibitors others are 10 years.  
Finding another Oncologist may have the same result.
