Anyone had chemo and radiation at the same time?

My radiation oncologist wants to discuss giving me radiation at the same time as phase 2 (Pax) of my chemo - which will be 12 X weekly treatments from 11 June. Has anyone else had this "double whammy" treatment? I'll want to ask her (and the medical oncologist) for all the pros and cons.

  • I've heard of it for other cancers, but not for breast cancer....
  • I had Invasive Lobular carcinoma level 2 - had a left mastectomy - 12 cm tumour. Also excision of some papillomas on right. Have had 4 X 3-weekly AC chemo and shall have 12 X weekly Pax.
  • @JoeyLiz I don't know what "inflammatory BC" means. Not heard of that.
I was surprised when the young oncology registrar told me, but then I remembered that the day of my first cycle of AC, the nurse said to the man opposite me, "Have you already had radiation today?" I remember thinking I didn't know anyone would have both together.
  • That is very uncommon. Are you inflammatory BC by any chance? That would be the only reason I could see for it.....
