Any advice?

Hi,

I am 42 and was diagnosed with breast cancer on the 4th July. I had a 33mm lump and nodes removed from my left breast 1 week later. Nodes and margins were clear, thankfully. I am now 2 weeks, 3 days post op and am developing a hardening in my breast which I assume is fluid. Does anyone have any suggestions to reduce it naturally? I have been massaging the breast and doing my exercises, but it seems to have enlarged overnight. Thanks in advance.

  • It is weird, all the odd, strange or unknown things seem to happen on the weekend when you can't just call and get advice.

It is Monday today, so hopefully your surgeon will have answers for you.

Let us know how you get along.

  • what shaz said!!!!

OMG I hate when these things happen over the weekend.

    See ur surgeon ASAP!

  • Sitck with your exercises and gentle massage until you can see them.

Try to sit up as much as possible during the day keeping breast above heart to aid drainage.

  • Thanks for replying Shazinoz, No I haven't spoken to my surgeon as it's only increased overnight and now we are in the weekend. I thought there might be something I could do to help reduce it before/until I talk to my surgeon on Monday.

  • 1stly have your told your surgeon? If not you should this is the sort of thing l=they want to know about.

It is likely fluid or a seroma (collection of fluid) and if it gets too big they need to drain it.

It could also be swelling/ inflammation still in the breast and muscles etc etc from the surgery.

Call your surgeon and let them know, so that they can tell you the best thing(s) to do to get rid of it.
