Whilst not suffering breast cancer ABC journalist Babara Miller’s journey with Lymphoma resonates .

Lymphoma is not a 'battle', it's just part of me - ABC News https://apple.news/Ak2-hXqvlRoeb8C7MDZGJDA

  • Love Barbara Miller's work. All strength to her.
  • It was on my twitter feed this morning and I read it as I have followed Barbara Miller’s work for years. What I hope comes from this kind of article is an open conversation about an awful disease in the hope an end is put to it .Too many times in the past “unpleasant “ stuff has been hidden and those that experience it lauded into being very brave but out of view and silent  - it doesn’t help anyone.
  • I read this story when it popped up in my Facebook feed this morning. I was drawn in by the header because I too hate it when cancer is described as a 'battle' or 'fight'.
As far as I'm concerned I'm suffering from an illness and being appropriately treated for it, no battling or fighting is necessary on my part!
  • It's one of the ones that sneaks up on you ....

A friend had lymphoma back in the mid 80s & I never appreciated just how nasty it was. He was put on a really savage course of chemo & took ages to get over it ..... we lived in a different town, so didn't 'see' what he was going thru - and he was always 'cheerful' in our communications - so I had NO IDEA it was as bad as it was.

I've always been almost embarrassed that I was so ignorant of his condition!  :(

Off to one side of the article is one on Exercise during & after Cancer that also looks a good read!
