Another lump

Hi Karen, yeah, I know that feeling. I'm only two months out from finishing treatment, but had a lump come up in my axils quite quickly a few weeks ago. Ended up be a seroma, 80 ml drained, but part of me.....

I think you reaction is perfectly normal. It's  the fear of return...and our pretense that we are not worried. If anything changes go back sooner. Or you could alwaya seek a second opinion. Here's  to a good nights sleeop. Kath 

Hi Ladies,

well, I got the results of my mammogram and ultrasound today. The surgeon is happy that it is just thickening of the tissue and, as I am still having 3 monthly checks, is happy to leave it at that. If it changes at all they will then investigate further.  I am relieved but I'm not, if that makes sense. I'm confused by my reaction. Women have benign lumps all the time. I trust my surgeons opinion and yet I feel so cynical. Maybe after I've had a good nights sleep, I will be able to accept that all is good and I'm alright. Thanks for your support ladies. Karen xox

Ah, crap Karen. Glad that you're on to it all quickly. Glad that your visit to the surgeon was reassuring, but also that he's following it up.

Hi Karen, hopefully the lump does just carry on with the thickening theme and its not something more sinister. I am glad your husband came with you for the appointment as it gave him an insight into what all of us fear for pretty much the rest of our lives, the chance cancer may return.

Bugger. Thinking of you and hope you have answers soon.

So happy they have acted so quickly, it is always the worry of the what if. Good luck with your tests, try and do something nice for yourself while you are waiting for results.

Hi Everyone, 

Well I saw the breast surgeon late this arvo and he is pretty happy that it is just thickening of the breast tissue but is sending me off for a mammogram and ultrasound just to be on the safe side. 

I ended up letting my husband know this afternoon as I had a 6.10 appointment and he wanted to know where I was going and why. He ended up coming with me to the surgeon. He freaked out once we went into the doctors room. The doctor was reassuring him more than me. I'm glad I kept it to myself up until this point. So I'll head off to have the tests done and go back to see the surgeon in a week. Karen 

Thanks everyone for your thoughts. Well the gp has referred me back to the breast surgeon. He wants me to get in this week as he will be able to do an ultrasound and needle biopsy in his rooms. I will give him a ring first thing in the morning and see if I can get in. If not the gp will page him and speak to him directly. At least once you've had bc they don't muck around. I'll keep you posted. Karen
