I've been on anastrozole for about 3 years as I have hormone sensitive b/c but lately I've started suffering with awful aches n such ( to put it mildly) and weight gain, I'm on a diet ( the same one I used to lose 30kg ) so what is going on ?? can it affect me after all this time ?? oncologist has cut the dosage ( as of last week ) would like to hear your experiences with such issues .

thats the diet I used when diagnosed with non alcoholic fatty liver a couple of years ago , from 104kg down to 75 no added salt /sugar low carb but it doesnt seem to be working , will check out the fit bit thing

There can be many side effects of AIs - aches & pains being probably the most common ..... I never really had any weight gain until the last 2 years with the Covid restrictions - when we were unable to get out as often as we like & do the normal exercise things that we could - so perhaps that has impacted you as well ..... I used to go out for HOURS at a time in my kayak - so the allowable 1hr exercise didn't really 'do it' for me - and I didn't get out at all & am now paying for it.With a bit of luck, your change in dosage will make a difference .... if not, try & increase your exercise just a bit (one woman lost a HEAP of weight by just walking around her DECK until she was happy enough to go out walking in public .....)Good luck xx

Sadly the older you get (somehow, I’m 77) the harder it seems to be to lose weight! Like many, I have found regular walking to be good for me in many ways. I get exercise (walking briskly, ambling isn’t quite as effective!), listening to music (ABC FM, whatever they are playing so I hear music new to me) and thinking time. I weigh myself every morning too, I’ve learned to deal with daily fluctuations and concentrate (to use a COVID term) on a rolling seven day average! Whatever the weather is an excellent motto. Hi @tisme , I gained 6 kgs with tamoxifen over a 2 yr period. I did eat a bit more in that time. I was diagnosed in lockdown so I blame some of the weight gain on covid, but the side effects of tamoxifen fatigue on me really slowed me down and eventually I changed to Letrozole. I got to the point of totally frustration with the weight thing. I am 60 yrs old. I use to get low carb in my 30s, not because of weight but I noticed cares bloated me and I didn't feel good if I ate alot of cards. So recently I thought I would give it a go and I have almost taken off those kilos I have gained. Just a couple more to go. My GP thinks gluten adds to my inflammation and bloating and weight. By having a low carbon diet I have noticed my inflammation and bloating is gone and my energy has increased which is great for exercise. I calorie count, I have a fitbit and I record what I eat. I make sure the calories in are less than the energy I burn or calories out. And I watch the carbs aren't high. It is working for me.I am not saying you have to do this but maybe find what it is that increases your weight and go with that. Best wishes
