An Update
Hi
Well I had my sential node done the morning of surgery and it showed up 2 nodes one in my armpit and one in the middle of my chest.
I was okay with this as I thought I would have something show up.
My op was the same afternoon and delayed for several hours. A huge storm hit Brisbane the afternoon of my operation and I had all the stupid thoughts running through my mind of no power and generators not kicking in etc all pretty silly now but not at the time...
Well I was in for just over 3 hours having my wide local done.
The surgeons came around the next day and said they found the lump to be alot more larger than the scans looked. The part of the lump they took was 4.7mm and they were not sure if they got all of it.
They took the one node from under my arm and the one in my chest which was in between my ribs so yep I am pretty sore there as they had to cut through my chest muscles and into my ribs to get it. The surgeon said some wouldnt even attempt to get it out but she wanted to try her best to get it.
I than went back a few days later for dressing etc to be changed
Than on 22nd Dec 2010 I was given the news !
They need to do a masectomy as the lump is way to big and they didnt get it all. They took approx a small mango size out already and if they kept going I would be all disfigured.
Not all my results are back in but as this far they are saying it hopefully is looking to be DCIS and only maybe micro invasion. The 2 nodes as of that date were clear of cancer but they hadnt done the final prints etc so I am still unsure.
I now have to have a masectomy and they want to try and do a reconstruction at the same time.
I now have to wait to see a plastic surgeon and my surgeon together so we can all work out what to do.
Anyone who has had this all done in one step I would so love to hear from you as this is going to be a very big operation they are telling me.
I am pretty freaked by the thought of all this happening at once but know its the best thing to get it off and get rid of all that they can of the cancer.
My surgeon also said she didnt know if I would have to have any chemo after it all just depending on how it all went.
So now I am faced with more of the unknown but I am thinking positive that this will get all the cancer and my life will be saved !!!!!
