An already existing vaccine for breast cancer- at the Mayo Clinic?

Ok, when I read the article I thought "here we go, another miracle cancer cure that Google knows about yet somehow the Medical Oncology community dont k ow about"....

Except that this is the Mayo Clinic, which is probably the most famous medical research institution in the world.
Keith Knutson isnt a snake oil merchant. He is a very credible researcher.
"But the fact is, Knutson said immunologists at Mayo already have two cancer vaccines against Triple Negative Breast Cancer and HER2 Positive Breast Cancer, respectively. "

Is this real? Is there an actual vaccine? It is described as something to take after active treatment.

I got in touch with the Mayo clinic and they sent me through a whole bunch of paperwork.

  • Hopefully there are advances, vaccines and cures that will help all of us who have already been diagnosed with BC in all its forms.
  • It was mentioned in a BBC news clip. There’s more on ScienceAlert.com.
  • Do you have a link to that T Cell stuff, @Afraser?
  • I am hopeful that within the next 15 years we will get to a place where there will be no deaths from breast cancer.
  • And today there is news of another development in T-cell research (Cardiff University) that may have broad application (as distinct from the highly targeted T-cell research already underway). All hopeful stuff.
  • Well it’s still in the maybe category but .......we have a vaccine for cervical cancer, so of course it’s possible. Without full trials, it’s presumptive to say it’s ‘safe’ or for that matter, useful/effective for all. There’s ‘many a slip between cup and lip’!! But there’s nothing inherently unthinkable in the concept.  There have been so many developments in the last decade, it’s very exciting.
