Alternatives to taking neublasta

Hi Everyone,

I am just wondering if anyone has taken an alternative to the neablasta injection. I am due for my 5th chemo next week and would like a natural alternative. After my 4th chemo my bones were so sore I could hardly move. The worst so far. I did change chemo drugs to dexetaxol (maybe this had an impact on my bones too) The pain lasted 4 days. (got better on the 4th) I plan to mention it to my oncologist and would not do anything without her advice. I dont mind the injecting part, its more the aftermath of it.

Just thought Id see if anyone had tried something different.

X Lana

  • Thanks ladies for all of your responses. I think you are right in saying that it must be more the doxetaxol than the injection. I will continue to eat all the super foods and take the injection. I do not want to end up in hospital or have my treatment postponed. I am so close to the end now and so excited that this time next month I will be done with chemo. I hope that the bone pain is not as severe, but if is I guess it is a small price to pay as opposed to picking up an infection and being hospitalised.

Your comments have been greatly appreciated. Take care everyone!

  • I was told by my Oncologist that the bone pain I experienced was not caused by the Neulasta but it was the Docetaxol. She also changed my Dexamethasone regimen to ease the pain which helped take the edge off. With my AC treatment prior to switching to Docetaxel I was in hospital twice with very low neutrophil counts but then I was put on Neulasta and no more problems with low white blood cell counts. Docetaxel was the culprit for the bone pain though. My husband 'affectionately' called it Doceshit :) Good luck with the rest of your treatments Lana. I hope your bone pain eases. Love Janey xxx
  • The same thing happened to me after first docetaxel (chemo#4). My dr changed my dexamethasone regime to being on it for longer and tapering off it. That made such a huge difference. I could actually get out of the and function even after my neulasta. Lisa
  • I had the same aches but the first Docataxel was definitely the worse, my next two rounds were better and my oncologist gave me some pain relief so I could sleep properly. I put it down to Docataxel as I had the Neulasta injections before and didn't experience bone pain like that.
  • yes that sounds like a combination of docetaxel and neulasta. neulasta bone aches usually last 24-48hrs. docetaxel main side effects in bone and muscle pain along with alot of others.

    Good luck
