Advice from others

Yes I think stress can really affect our health.Although you are on your own,I hope you have family or friends who you can talk to.It's hard waiting in the public system.My father in law is now blind as a bat from cataracts but when we took him to book in at Westmead hosp.for just a consult,he would be waiting 6-12 months.Then it would be another wait after that for surgery.He lives on his own but needs abit of help from us.Anyway he has decided to pay $2,500 for private surgery next month.Luckily he has the money but it's really not good enough is it.Sorry to hear that you lost your job - that would be stressful.Blog back here anytime for support or to vent your frustrations.

Thanks Tonya , unforunately , I am a public patient and have also just lost my job after 5yrs . I am on my own so do not have funds to see private Doctor . I live in Blacktown and will ring BCI at Westmead to seeif I can get in sooner. I think the stress may be causing the huge weight loss . Thanks so very much for all your support, it does help just to have someone to tell . I have had different diagnosis from mammograms and ultrsounds , one said cyst , then fat lump ,then prominant rib, so I don't have a real answer yet .My problem is I know it has got worse over the past six months. Will keep trying.

Is it just for a second  opinion that you have to wait that long for?Because that doesn't seem right. I think there would be other surgeon's you could see before April but you'd see them as a private patient I suppose.My surgeon is great and she is at Castle hill.The other thing you can do is to ring the institute each week to check if there are any cancellations-you may get in sooner that way.

You poor luv, that is a good amount of time to be waiting. Is there such a thing as a cancellation list or some such thing.

I wish it could be quicker action for you but at least you are getting on to it. Try not to worry to much in the meantime and just keep yourself busy.

This waiting is the pits!!!! We are here if you need to chat, vent or whatever while you are waiting.
