AC Chemo
I only realised this morning when I was out on my walk, just how anxious I am about having my 4th and last AC Chemo treatment on Thursday. I've got it on the list to question the oncologist about but I know that a number of women have said that this can be worse than the first treatment and if that is what I can expect, I'm packing it. I know that I haven't had things as bad as some on this forum but I honestly don't know how I could go through anything like those first few days again, let alone if it's worse. I know that no-one can do anything to help - I just needed to put it out there as I don't want to get everyone else anxious before it happens. Worse still, it'll be the start of the school holidays and I'm really, unreasonably, angry about that. I love the kids being home and I hate that, yet again, I probably won't really be up for making the most of the time with them.

- kezmuscMemberGood luck for today @Sister. Just remember it's THE LAST ONE!. You got this lovely.
XOXOXOX - jennyssMemberDear @Essme , sounds like you got off to a not too bad start for your AC..... well apart from the constipation and fatigue. But great that you were back walking the dog. If you're an oldy like me you probably remember a Rolling Stones song from the mid sixties called Walking the Dog. Best wishes for your next rounds.
- smokie08MemberI also had dose dense A/C the second dose for me was the worst the rest i can't really remember i started paxletaxol 2 weeks after that was not too bad until my oncologist decided to chuck in the carboplaintin. I really do wish you well with your last dose and hope all goes well.
Take care :) - Fionap2017MemberMy 4th AC was quite ok. It took me a little longer to recover but my side effects were no worse than with the other 3. Taxol was a breeze for me after AC. I was worried about going to weekly treatment because I thought I’d be just recovering Sunday only to start again Monday but I hardly had any side effects from it at all. It was a much easier time for our whole family, I was back into routine and doing things with the kids again. I hope your experience is a good one.
- SisterMemberThank @arpie. Standard 3 weeks until I start on taxol for 12 weekly doses.
- arpieMemberAll the best for this last treatment tomorrow, @Sister .... i wonder if you’ll get a bit emotional like I did on my last rad treatment? It was quite weird!
How long before you start the next lot?
You’re an inspiration to many!! I’ll be thinking of you xxx - EssmeMemberI seem to have posted on the wrong spot, I thought I was posting to someone about to start chemo, I don't know what happened.
- EssmeMemberI just had my first dose of AC and I also used the cold cap. The anxiety before was bad but the actual infusion was fine. They give you anti sickness tablets beforehand.I felt a bit nausiated and tired after and foggy in the head. Definately get someone to drive you home especially if you have to travel far.I did. I was fine for the first 2 days after but then it really hit me on the third day.couldn't get out of bed for 2 days completley exausted. I could still eat but nothing could prepare me for the constipation OMG. Make sure you have medication on hand incase this happens, I didn't.I started to recover on the 5th day , 6th day I feel almost normal and started walking my dog again. It is a week today and I seem o.k .
- SisterMemberThanks, everyone. Fingers are crossed and I will do everything I'm able to make sure that I ride this one out the best I can
