AC Chemo - Day 15 (entering 'calmer waters')
Well very happy to say that day 15 was rather uneventfull when it comes to my tummy which as some may know has been preoccupying me the previous 6 days or so.
I am happy to say there was a whole of 1 loo trip (yes still dealing with a fissure and hemmoroids) and I have even managed to do a fair bit of walking arround the home with no unpleasant sideffects. I did experience some lower abdomenal pains during the day and have to deal with one very pathetically sorry backside that aches still but in comparison to the previous week this is Heaven... What can I say other than as far as my sorry backside is concerned birds are starting to chirp again. No butterflies yet and the grazing Bamby is still hiding somewhere scared away by my previous 'fire bum that farts endlessly' performances but I can see that glorious light at the end of the tunnel...
I am well into my neutropenia week as I have taken a dive in that area on days 10-11 so as I woke up with a bit of a mucusy nose and pain my throat I have been preoccupied with personal hygiene and both brushing my teeth and gargling with salty water throughout the day.
I can definitely say that gargling with salty water helps. Every time pain made a comeback I would do a new salty water gargling routine and would find that throat pain would go away. So very happy with that. I am also preoccupied caring for my feet that had cracked badly day 10 and now simply are refusing to heal so GP warned me to keep moisturing that area as neutropenia and open sores do not work well together.
All in all had a decent day for a change. Yes maybe went a bit overboard with taking my own temp every few hours but I guess with my sore throat and ocassional coughing throughout the day that is warranted.
Was a bit alarmed as my temp started to climb towards the end of the day and by the time I went to bed was sitting firmly on 37.6 so I set an alarm to wake my self later on in the night to check it as really did not want to wait to wake up in the morning and find I was running a fever. Luckilly for me, temp dropped some time past midnight so I am one very happy girl.
Hoping the rest of this week goes by without much excitement so I can concentrate on healing my sorry backside as much as possible before I have 2nd AC Chemo on Monday as I know that if my backside does not heal before my gut has to deal with another case of toxic sludge I am likely to be in more trouble than experienced in the 1st round.
BUT I am a happy girl that they will still proceed with a 2nd chemo session so I reckon it is onwards and upwards from here ?
