Absolutely Devastated !
Today I received news one of my 3 sisters who had Uterine cancer in 2010 and received the all clear in June last year has stage 4 incurable lung cancer. She has never smoked in her life and has been healthy otherwise. Chest X Ray a year ago for a sore back showed nothing on examination. Now, Cat and PET scan and biopsies a month later she received the diagnosis. She retired a year ago and was enjoying helping out with her grandchildren aged 7 & 8 years old. She has one daughter.
Out of 7 children - I've had breast cancer twice , oldest sister bowel cancer, her - uterine cancer, brother cerebral haemorrhage , brother heart tumour and youngest sister had a recall for breast biopsy and ultrasound on her breast for next Tuesday. My father had breast cancer - he was the first and since then there are 15 relatives with it , some no longer with us. BRCA gene negative for me and positive for cousins. Can't believe the news, soooo unfair . So much in our family . Just felt like a rant and I choose you ladies , where else would I go? Sorry if it's not allowed on BRCA but cancer is cancer . Thanks Beppie ??

Hi Trace, unfortunately or fortunately I'm good at being strong. My mother was bi polar and diagnosed when I was 9 years old. I nursed my dad when he had lung cancer and eventually died in 2000. I also organised and arranged for his breast cancer surgery in Sydney when I was working as a nurse there in 1993. My sister Christine raised the rest of us and she was only 16 when mum went into psych care inially. One of my brothers was 14 and my youngest sister was 6 then. She would get up at 4am do washing on the cooper stove and peg out, make lunch for us kids for school and my 2 brothers and dad who worked on the farm, plus smoko. Make beds, sweep out and do some prep for dinner then go to work at the bank 2 blocks away. Come home and get washing in, iron and cook dinner . She bought my first bra ( I had nothing to put in it ) but I wanted one! Took me to the snow, stayed in a hotel and generally loved me. She is my favourite sister. I just deal with what I'm given , I may rant and cry but nothing will change the outcome but I feel better afterwards. I've been told I'm stoic but I'm just practical . She calls me her Rottweiler , as I field all her communication and tell people to leave her alone until she's ready to contact them. Thanks for letting me rant, much appreciated . Beppie xx

Dear Beppie, my heart and prayers go out to you and your family. Some families do seem to get more than a fair share of bad events, but I am guessing you are feeling something like 'enough already'!! I know very little I can say would probably make it feel better. All I can hope is for the very best for your sister and other relatives and for you to pack in good experiences, and as much love and laughter you can as you all go forward.
Take care, Nadine

Thank you Mandy but she doesn't meet the requirements for the clinical trials being held In Melbourne at the moment. She was tested for that 2 weeks ago when she had the biopsies done. The guidelines are very strict and unfortunately she didn't meet them so she missed out. She's not a candidate for the laser in UK or USA as its only for one cancer . Thank you for the suggestion. Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated . Beppie xx

Thank you Brenda, unfortunately the cancer is in her lymph glands , 6 tumours in both her lungs and neck. She's seeing another oncologist hopefully Friday to see if any chemo will help shrink the cancer and give her more time. They're not to keen on doing it at the moment as her health is good now , but I'm all for chemo to shrink and kill any other cancer cells. Thanks for the link too. Beppie xx

Thank you Wendy, as my youngest sister said its not her fault her bladder is so close to her eyes! I can't seem to stop tearing up all last night and today. As a result I had a awful headache all morning. Hopefully Christine will get good news next week when she sees the oncologist. Beppie xx
