- CathyMacMember@kmakm @primek @Sister @kitkatb thank you! ❤️
I am having a lot of trouble keeping my anxiety in check today. I'm doing lots of deep breathing and will take a long walk when the day cools down. I'm just so apprehensive about the side affects. Guess I'll know soon enough! - kmakmMemberA big online group hug coming your way @CathyMac.
- kitkatbMemberHi @CathyMac wishing you well for tomorrow. I know you must be extremely anxious but as the others have said deep breath. You are starting the countdown which is the best thing. Our thoughts will be with you tomorrow. Big hugs. xo
- SisterMemberGood luck @CathyMac
- primekMemberThe gated heart pool scan was my oncologist preferred method actually and I had them throughout chemo and herceptin. It measures the output of your heart...it's efficiency. They take some blood...add some radioactive type stuff to it and give it back then do a CT scan following the blood flow. It takes about 20 mins. My tip is to be well hydrated so that the jelco is easier to insert.
Here is a link explaining it:

And if you want...research on comparing the 2. Long story shirt. Both accurate.

did you have the heart pool scan?? - kmakmMemberThis weekend is going to be the pits @CathyMac, there's no way round it. But come Monday you'll be underway and your anxiety will subside enormously. Try to stay in the moment as much as possible, take the days one hour at a time. Some deep breaths will calm your nervous system, and exercise will help. You'll be right. K xox
- CathyMacMemberLet the chemo begin! I was feeling a little frustrated yesterday as I had my follow up appointment with the oncologist to confirm my chemo woiuld start on Monday. My frustration lies in the fact that In my last meeting with the oncologist he had said I would need to have an echo cardiogram as I have a family history of heart disease and I have a mitral valve prolapse but he would organise for that to happen, I didn't need to do anything and I would be called to line up the appointment. Well it got to Wednesday this week and I'd heard nothing. So I embarked on the great ring around to find out what was going on, only to find out the referral was never received by the heart specialist. Grrrrrr! So the onco's PA faxes it through. I get a call from the heart specialist to say the only appointment they have is at midday and it's 11:20am and I'm on my way to my first physio appointment that I've waited 4 weeks for. So it's a no can do! And of course he was going on 2 weeks leave from Friday and there were no other appointments. So I get to my oncologist appointment yesterday and the rush is on to have the test. So I ended up having to have a heart pool scan. Has anyone had one of these! Apparently it's not as good but it will give enough info for the go ahead with chemo on Monday.
Feeling extremely anxious about Monday!
I hope you all have a great weekend❤️ - SoldierCrabMemberThanks :D
