A timely reminder reminded me to get motivated!

Hi everyone!

Time I got back into the saddle again and stopped my pity party.  In my family, I have always been the first one to lend a hand, help out if anyone is sick, try and mend what's broke, hearts nurse anyone who needs nursing - you know the drill.  This time it's me needing the nursing, and damnit, I hate it.  But more than anything, I'm hating the total lack of energy, or interest in eating.  Now I'm resembling the GoodYear Blimp.  It just seems to be one thing after another.

If I'm honest, I think the scare I had during my 2nd chemo has really rattled me, and I'm worrying about next Thursday and the 3rd (and 2nd last chemo, thank God) chemo day.  Finding it really hard to do much of anything and my garden and bushhouse, my pride and joys, is going to wrack and ruin.

Sorry to sound such a misery.

Barb

  • Hi Barb, sorry you're feeling miserable, chemo is such a hard time for us all. Maybe you feel like you're doing nothing, but your body is fighting hard to beat this thing. As women we are used to being there for those we love, now is the time to allow those who love you the joy of looking after you. Maybe working in your garden might be a practical way they could help?

Youre halfway through chemo, just think in under 4 weeks time you'll be all done. Talk to your Doc and ask if they can do anything to make this next dose easier. I had extra pre-med drugs, antihistamines and 2nd daily IV fluids for a week after chemo that really helped those last few doses. Even took an extra weeks break to build strength before going back into the battle. Ask what they can do to help you, that's their job.

Wishing you all the best for Thursday. Just remember that the pity party never lasts forever, at the end there's a glory story waiting just for you xXx

  • Oh btw I had same bad reaction on my second round too. I think for the 3rd one they just said they will pre-med me really well and not tempt fate again. Its reassuring at least.

  • I am having the same treatment. Look up my daily posts, there might be some hints to help?

I got depressed and wondered when I was going to snap out of it and get on with life too, then one morning I actually felt great. It was like the cloud temporarily lifted and I had a zest for life and don't laugh but my therapy was cleaning the bathroom vanity. I am not much for housework at the best of times but I actually enjoyed myself and got the dust on the top of the tiles and all. The zest was short lived but at least I got an insight and a confidence all will come good again and I just have to patient and get through this boring and trying time.

I look at my garden as well with wistfulness but hey, just think of the mulch we will have in months to come when we clean up with a vengeance.

  • I agree with Rowdy, it is horrible and it does end

No Wonder you feel so bad at the moment, it's chemo and it's horrible

    Thinking of you ??

  • Hi ladies I remember those feelings well. It is so difficult to push yourself when you feel like crap. Take time out for yourself and try not to be so hard on yourself as chemo is a tough trip. I tried to walk at least once a day even if  some days it was only to the letter box. Sending you both a big hug, hang in there it does end.xxx

  • Thanks Chris :)

You make me feel better already.  I have my third this coming Thursday *gulp* and I'm on Docetaxel and Cylophosphamide every 21 days.  Plus the Dexamethasone tabs twice a day - the day before chemo, day of chemo and the day after chemo.  Hate them!  They hype me up so bad I barely sleep for those three days. ugh

I'm apparently one of the unlucky ones that has had nearly every bad reaction possible with this chemo.  Gee, I feel blessed lol  NOT.  This past week though, I just felt like I'd run out of optimism and trying to put on a brave face.

    Thanks again, Chris :))

  • Barb you don't sound like a misery you sound exactly how I feel today.... no energy whatsoever just lying around feeling sorry for myself! Yes i too am the one who is always there for everyone and now hate been "looked after". what chemo are you having? just finished my 4th AC.
