A new advanced cancer treatment being tested in Canberra ... hope it works for BC patients as well!
This popped into my news feed yesterday & sounds very interesting - developed by a Canberra Uni Research mob and having trials done just now - less toxic than chemo on those with advanced cancer ... a type of immunotherapy at a fraction of the cost at $20 a pop. I can't see where it identifies being used on specific cancers tho.
Complete Freund Adjuvant is made up just three ingredients: mineral oil, surfactant and dead bacteria.

- Not sure why they say that there will be less side effects than chemotherapy other than they seem to inject locally (rather than chemotherapy which is a systemic treatment). Freunds Complete Adjuvent has been used to make vaccines in the laboratory for years that are tested in animals. However, the vaccines are always reengineered prior to putting them into humans because Freunds Complete Adjuvent is too toxic for humans and does not have regulatory approval for humans. I think this technology is a long way off and has a number of hurdles to get over before it becomes a treatment for cancer!
