Hi Meg and anyone else undergoing radiation,
With so many skin care options out there just wanted to share what worked for me ( end of treatment today I had peeling skin at armpit but no breakdown or moist exudate). Here's how:
Moisture, moisture...from the start. Kept it simple..As the nurses instructed!
After each morning session, did a " sorbolene soak"- thick layer of the thinner, pump variety of sorbolene, followed by moist cool plain water soaked combines. Min 15 mins of resting with combines...good to use the time to just stop and breathe.
Sorbolene also applied every night. Ad hoc during the day as well. No soak. Not practical for me to soak more than once per day, was working.
Applied Bepanthin to radiated nipple nightly.
Used ultraceutical body treatment oil after showering, while skin moist, just a tiny amount to breast and more generous elsewhere, then patted breast dry. I feel this really worked well moisture wise and also made me feel good! Scent is wonderful but no perfume. Radiation nurses v happy with skin- don't know if this product good for others, worth considering with your Dr. Mine was reluctant that I use it, but at end of treatment was happy with skin.
During the last 2 weeks of treatment, as skin burnt and peeled in patches under armpit, applied solugel type product flamisol I think was name..), prevented it progressing to moist breakdown and was so soothing on skin.
Hope that helps someone.:)
