A cry and then full belly laugh. Ouch!

Hi everyone, Today is day nine after my big op and I'm now home and resting well. It's my Mum's birthday today and the anniversary of my Dad passing away 25 years ago. Our family always have a celebration for my Mum and a toast to my Dad on this day. Happy and a bit sad too. We can't do that this year but my Mum came up to visit me this morning. First time I'd seen her for five weeks as she's been on a cruise with her sister coming home the day after my op but with a bad cough so didn't come near me til today understandably. It was so lovely to see her face and I had a bit of a cry. My husband was having a shower when mum arrived so he wasn't aware that she was here. Imagine his embarrassment when he walk out of our bedroom 'stark naked' only to run back again with an exclamation of surprise when he spotted my mum sitting just behind the door. Some birthday present hey, my husband in his birthday suit! I laughed so hard I don't think it was good for me but it was an hilarious moment. Nothing that Mum hasn't seen before obviously but not of Ian. Oh well. It only goes to show we don't have to lose our sense of humour only hold our stomachs a little firmer. I'm still improving every day and very very glad to be home. Will post some details soon about the operation etc. but I still have a foggy head so need to get everything sorted out.     Oh Ian laughed as much as mum and I did afterwards. It will go down in our family folk lore I think. My daughter laughed too when we told her tonight. My son just said "how gross". Had a good day today with my mum. She's pretty much over her cough now and she told me that as soon as she heard my voice on the phone after my op, she rapidly improved. Love my mum. Yes, glad I'm home. Love Janey xxx

    Hi Deanne, That's just fantastic that you've finished chemo. I know just how you are feeling. Haven't read your post today yet. Just getting through a week's worth. I can't believe my last chemo treatment was 13 weeks ago tomorrow. How time has flown. My hair is growing back all grey and fluffy but at least it's growing. I know you still have that crummy last chemo blah time to go through but just think. You won't be going back there again. Yay! Love Janey xxx

    Oh I am sorry your don't have your mama now. I feel the same way about my dad. I was always a daddy's girl and I still miss him terribly even after 25 years. Love you new tattoo by the way. I am just now catching up on everyone's posts since going in to hospital. A lot has happened! Janey xxx

    In hospital one if the nurses wrapped up up towel and taped it up as a kind of padding for me to hold against myself which helped with coughing and things that jerked my tummy so I got Ian to do the same thing at home. I held on tight to it when I laughed and it saved me from too much pain. It's been my constant companion :) Yes it was really lovely to see my mum. You never quite stop being a little daughter do you when it comes to your mum. Janey xxx

    Hi Janey So good that you are home and doing ok. I am sure you will take things one step at a time. You have been through so much but the worst is behind you now. Nurture yourself and you will continue the journey onwards and upwards to full health once more. Thanks for sharing your humorous story with us. Poor Ian! Glad you all enjoyed a good laugh. Love Deanne xx PS I had my last Chemo today so just have to recover from this before I start 5 weeks of Radiotherapy in early October. Yay! Hoping to get some hair regrowth for Christmas!

    That was so funny, laughter is good medicine they say, so as long as you held on tight I am sure it was good for you.

    Seeing your mother must have beern awesome, my mother passed 3 years ago and through my ssurgeries and treatment that was what I wanted most my mama.

    Such good news that you are back home, Janey.   I laughed  out loud reading about Ian's entrance - so funny - hope laughing didn't hurt your stomach! It must have been lovely to see your Mum.  Get well soon, and let us know how you are going.   Michelle xxx
