I did ask what positions I would be in during the surgery, would they tilt me to my side or would the arm be pulled overhead but no, you are left flat on your back and the arm out to the side so it shouldn't injure your shoulder although just being unmoved like that for a time it could get a bit stiff.
You might not be doing any wheel chair races with the shoulder any time soon but I am thinking perhaps the regular movement of it might actually help a bit toward the drains they put in and get it healing faster?
