Dear Melissa, I really feel for you. My op is in a few days and I don't know how I feel. But they did send me a special Berlei bra (the McGrath Foundation did) that I thought we were supposed to wear post-op. I also went to the local bra shop which supplies such things and purchased another special bra for this purpose. I think the nurse at the hospital told me that you wear the bra after the op - but maybe I have this all wrong. Not sure. My heart goes out to you, you're so young and beautiful. Love from JJ xx

Its natural for your emotions to be all over the place, like Adean said keep busy you may not succeed but the house will be clean and that helps whern you come home LOL.
I bought sleevless front button pj's these worked a treat I just saw them on the weekend and thought I want to throw those things away they remind me of my hospital visits these days.
As I had no drains in coming home so the clothes I wore didn't matter, but I would take the ladies advice and buy the singlets.
If you have the opportunity spend tofday doing something special with your loved ones and remember we are all behind you supporting you through this tiime.

Wish you ladies well tomorrow, of course you are nervous, I had worked myself up so much before my lumpectomy, I ended up falling asleep while waiting to be taken into the operationg room. Exhaustion! from worrying. I had had only one minor procedure before this, so it was all a bit scary. Best of luck, it's the first step towards a brighter future, take care, big hugs,

Good luck to both of you for surgery.Whether it's a lumpectomy or mastectomy, the pain and recovery are similar(I've had both)It's not too bad as far as operations go.You'll probably wake up with a binder around your chest and a drain.So it's easier if you have button down pjs and a loose shirt to go home in.A week later when the drain came out,I swapped the binder for a singlet/cami -still wore loose shirts. If you are abit anxious when they take you to theatre,try taking slow deep breaths as this may have a calming effect.
