12 months later

Well 12 months on from surgery (21/3/12).

Feeling quite good, but still get quite tired. Still have the odd thought of.... will it come back.

Hair is growing back. Already had my first haircut. Now have decided - short hair it is. No more bob, and no more straightening irons. Life is too short to be standing in the bathroom.

Boob is still sore, and arm and armpit still sore as well. Will take a while to recover. Still doing exercises to help. Massaging as well..

Started dragon boat racing with some fantastic friends. A little un-co-ordinated, but will get there. Absolutely enjoying it though. Have met some "older" ladies that put me to shame. They are so fit. Need to try and keep up.

Have breakfast/lunch with cherished, fantastic friends I have met from this site. We catch up nearly every Friday to chat, laugh and just listen.

My work at the moment is part time - 4 days/week. Maybe this may set a new me - cherish times for myself. Work isn't everything.

Family life is - well what can I say.... FANTASTIC. Husband and two adorable boys. They just help me with everything. Without them, I just don't know.

Life.... well.... seeing that in a totally different way.

I'm not worrying about the small stuff, the stuff I can't fix or change. Not worrying about work. Not worrying about whether I have finished something. Not worrying about money. Health is more important....

Life is now, reflecting on the beautiful things around me.

Doing what I like to do. Enjoying my family and true friends.

Saying a big thankyou to you all, for your blogs that I have read, whether sad or happy.

That is what life is all about really. just taking in.

I wonder what the next 12 months will bring?

  • thanks Michelle and Bel

Michelle - a year has passed already for both of us. And in the past 12 months, what have we both had to endure. But, now all finished and looking back it was tough at times, but we both finished. I hope you are doing well.

And wishing you happiness and health XX

Bel, just remember it does get better and time will pass quite quickly. You will look back after 12 months and think how time has flown.

    love Julie XX

  • Its nice to hear a positive story and gives us all hope and inpiration.  I am only 5 months through, and wonder about the future!   All the best with the rowing too! Bel xx

  • I hope the next 12 months bring you only health and happiness! You deserve it!

It's hard to believe that a year has passed, and here we are, finished treatment and enjoying our lives again.

Absolutely agree with everything you said. Hope you continue to enjoy your dragonboat racing and your catch-ups with friends - if Toni is one of them, say hello from me.

It is so good to hear all is going well. Lots of love always, Michelle xx
