Hi Sue
You're going through the worst days now, it will get better! My taste buds dropped off really early too. Wine tasted absolutely horrible and so did most foods. Try not to eat any of your favourite things while going through treatment, your brain will associate the altered flavour and they will never taste the same again! Wait till you're finished so you can enjoy them again later, something to look forward to!
I ate lots of omega and high 'good fat' foods like salmon and avocado, you need less of these foods for the same nutrition value so easier to get through when your appetite wanes, plus they are excellent at helping your body repair. Eat lots of proteins like chicken and eggs too, it will help prevent your body using all your 'muscle protein' to repair instead, so you don't get too much muscle wastage. Protein smoothies are a good way to go and keep your fluids up as a bonus.
You may find your head is sore from the injections, mine was terrible, it's not just the hair loss thing! The injections make ALL your bones ache more, including your skull and the little bones in your ears you didn't even know could hurt, not just the long bones like they tell you!
Keep up the pain killers and go to something stronger if it gets really bad, no point trying to be stronger or braver than you need to at this point, less pain equals more rest and hence healing!
Good luck hon xxx hugs xxx
