Thank you for your lovely message, having a baby is a great joy but the stress of her wellbeing has kept my mind occupied. I’m hoping to get my treatment started soon and hopefully I will be well into it before she arrives.

I was diagnosed this year with stage 4 metastatic triple neg breast cancer when I was 14 weeks pregnant. I started chemo at 18 weeks. I know how you feel. I wish I could say the perfect sentence that will make this easier for you but there isn't one. But I am a glass quarter full kinda gal and I like to think that most people, when they are diagnosed, are stuck thinking about cancer constantly. For us, we get to think about the incoming child too. That is something super positive happening in amongst the shit. 

Make sure you have a great obstetrician - my one in Canberra was an absolutely saviour. And make sure they and your oncologist are prepared to work together. It will be a team effort. 

I know just how scared you are right now. But you can do this and shockingly, chemo and pregnancy can be done. My daughter is 13 weeks now and she is absolutely perfect. Not just in a hormone mum way, but also in a healthy, happy normal kid way too. There is no signs the chemo effected her at all. She was born with a full head of hair. Way more than I have. :-) My husband said to me "how else do you think super heroes are born?"  :-) she hasn't started flying yet but we are on the lookout. 

Look after yourself. Be selfish. You can do this. 

Hi @Shan_07. I'm sorry to hear of your diagnosis,  especially at what should be a most exciting time. I knew that there had been some, but couldn't remember names. I typed "pregnant" into the search box at the top of the home page, and a number of threads from the last 18months came up. That has reminded me of a couple of names, @Tennille, @Renny2819, @JulesD.

Your medical team will certainly be looking at all aspects as well as drawing on their past experiences. I am thankful that their knowledge has come such a long way. One of the two pregnant ladies I have treatment with started out in I think Thailand where they told her no way she could keep bubs. She came back to Australia where the Oncologist said no problems, we will get you both through this. She is over halfway through treatment and both doing well.

Thank you, yes the extra stress of pregnancy and also wondering how my treatment will affect her has given me extra anxiety. I hope the two Mumma’s your having your treatment with and yourself all get through your treatment well. I have been suggested molecular testing before starting Chemotherapy to see which treatment will best work for us, it’s all a little confusing at the start to be honest. X

Oh sweetheart. I am past that stage in my life but I currently have treatment with two pregnant ladies who are coping well with their chemo treatment. Hopefully someone on here will be in the position to help. Their Oncologist has been able to work out a treatment that is safe for the baby. Waiting for that information is frustrating but your New team of specialists will be working on your situation before you even meet them as they want the best for you both.
