My birthday today & Mastectomy tomorrow
Tomorrow is the day, I have to be at the hospital at 6am, my best friend is picking my daughter & I up around 5am to take us to the hospital for my mastectomy & Axillary clearance.
Today is my birthday, I've had lots & lots of friends wish me well & some friends dropped in to see me today, with gifts & cake.
My boyfriend spoilt me all weekend & surprised me with a biker ring this morning and another patch for my bike vest.
The ring is an eagle and it's wings wrap around my finger to create the ring itself, i love it! My daughter took me out for lunch today & has made me a yummy chocolate cake.
My parents called me earlier this evening & my son called me just now.
I am strangely calm, i felt a little emotional this morning, but apart from that I am feeling Okay.
Normally prior to surgeries i have been calm as can be, then i get anxious worrying "what if they find cancer?"- but this time it is for cancer... and they know that it's not spread anywhere else, so no idea how i'm going to be with this. I will ask for a pre-op sedative anyway, just in case!

- LMK74MemberMkitty 68, so glad your surgery went well. Get your friends to bring you food lol coz the food is crap at RBWH.
Wishing you a speedy recovery.
Lisa - MKitty68MemberThank you ladies, I'm doing really well.
They're going to give me some endone in about an hour & the nurse just turned the fan on for me for my 'personal summers' lol
ive had a light dinner, just the soup & dessert as I didn't feel up to anything heavier.
My daughter was here when I got to the ward, and she reminded me how to do the excercises. A friend of mine came & took her home so she didn't have to catch public transport in the dark.
I called my parents when I got to the ward, and Katie (my daughter) took a pic to send my parents so they can see how good it looks. My best friend was here earlier, he left just before 8:00pm & my boyfriend arrived just on 8:00pm. He stayed until 9:00pm, so I'm feeling good.
I was texting with one of the girls I was working with, so that was good too.
The resident said that everything went really well. There were about 8 lymph nodes with hard spots (cancers?) in them. The nerve on the inside of my arm is affected, so I'll have a numb spot there. Small price to pay I think. - melclarityMemberHey @Mkitty68 hope you are comfortable, glad to hear you've come through. Let us know how you go. Hugs Melinda xo
