I had a different case than you have, but my surgeon was happy that he got everything and clear margins, no node involvement. When chemo was suggested, I thought why? They said to mop up, mop up what? I thought. I do have a very strong family history, that was one of the reasons given. I guess its that one percent chance I didn't want to take. The list of side effects for chemo is quite scary, but I decided to go with the medical advice as they are the experts. As for the why's, you're right, it's just unlucky.
