I just spent the day in hospital with a heart flutter. I am on beta blockers, as it happened about March last year too. Not sure if it is my age or a follow on from the 2016 chemo but it is annoying to have what is basically 2 heart rhythms working against each other. The doc said a second rhythm can start and it says, 'I can get there faster' and takes over. The old rhythm says, 'no way', and they fight. I took extra beta blockers and it slowed both beats down until one gave up and went back to sleep. Hospital just had to keep an eye on me and monitor and it eventually settled down and came good and they released me. It is fairly common the doctor said as there were 3 others in on the same day with the same thing. I hadn't been doing anything, just got up, had a cuppa and was reading emails when the palpitations started.On a good note, the beta blockers have improved my eyes and now I am off the Tamoxifen the eye clots shouldn't happen again.

New Dr, same clinic which is good because he can access all my past records. First appointment last Saturday he put me on antiobiotics, changed the heart meds from Atenolol to Metoprolol and did a referral to a psychiatrist. Second appointment yesterday he did a medical certificate for the centerlink newstart claim I have in so I can get a pension concession card so I can afford to the the Dr in the first place without paying $70 weekdays or $120 weekends. The psychiatrist will cost $500 and the appointment is next week. I have also been referred back to the cardiologist building as my old one left and I need a new one too. He won't be free either.None of this Drs ducking out and abandoning me helps toward me trying to get a disability pension claim done for the 3rd time. I haven't been able to work since 2015 when this breast cancer saga started. Just makes me so angry and frustrated which doesn't help me either.Good news is the Metroprolol seems to be working and my anxiety isn't quite as bad now. I looked up a side effect of Atenolol and it can be anxiety. Why the previous GP didn't twig about it way back when I asked to see a psychologist because I had agoraphobia come on suddenly I don't know.

Apparently I wasn't taking the right dose of one of the heart meds lol. It came in a little bottle and the label was a wrap around with a kink halfway thru the dose rate. The new ones came in a box with a good big flat label I can read so instead of half a tab morning and night, its actually half in the morning and full tab at night. It seems to be working better now with no middle of the night atrial fibrillation.I survived breast cancer, I am surviving heart troubles, I survived covid. Now if I can just survive this house move on 23rd March things should go much easier.

Like the others I want to slap this man upside of his head. Is it possible to find another gp cause he isn’t do8ng his job

It seems I have an extra heart beat. It is quite jazzy really. The radiographer said it could be just age or there may have been a bit of damage when I had the reaction to chemo 3 years ago. Seeing the GP on Fri arvo.

Best wishes for the heart ultrasound. I have a sister with a similar problem and she was referred to a cardiologist and put on a very mild medication - it was anxiety related. She's real well now so here's hoping the same for you!

I have a heart ultrasound first thing this morning. They will probably find exactly what they found this time last year, absolutely nothing. I will be pushing for a cardiologist referral though this time as I am not sure my GP is all there atm. I would like to change medication or even just take it when ever I have a flutter and not all the time. Metaprolol side effect of abandoning hobbies and being tired all the time is not fun.
