Heart aflutter again.
I just spent the day in hospital with a heart flutter. I am on beta blockers, as it happened about March last year too. Not sure if it is my age or a follow on from the 2016 chemo but it is annoying to have what is basically 2 heart rhythms working against each other. The doc said a second rhythm can start and it says, 'I can get there faster' and takes over. The old rhythm says, 'no way', and they fight. I took extra beta blockers and it slowed both beats down until one gave up and went back to sleep. Hospital just had to keep an eye on me and monitor and it eventually settled down and came good and they released me. I have an appointment with my GP tomorrow who I imagine will either increase the dose rate or try me on another type. https://www.healthline.com/health/living-with-atrial-fibrillation/paroxysmal#progression2KViews1like73CommentsPeriods
Hi, I’ve just completed 4 rounds of AC and had no periods during this time. I had my first round of Taxol last Friday and I got my period during treatment and it has really come with vengeance. I usually only get for 4 days and not heavy, but this is something else. I am 39. Has anyone else experienced this and should I be worried?121Views0likes2CommentsOde to missing hair
Hi All! Half way along on my 12 weekmy taxol, monthly Herceptin regime. The hair started falling out after about week 3. I didn’t think this was going to be a big problem for me, was looking forward to trying all sorts of interesting headwear. The reality, though, has been quite confronting, and by far the hardest thing to deal with so far. The head is itchy, with infected sores, pimples and incredible sensitivity. All of this you guys know, right? It’s a pretty common theme on here. So, my hair was my ‘thing’, my way of expressing myself, my way of aging disgracefully, and complimenting my zany personality. Now I feel that identity has been ripped away and all I’m left with is a slightly sad, exhausted, pimply visage in the mirror. Even my super cool tshirts have gone by the wayside as I don’t know what to wear on my head to go with them and everything is pretty uncomfortable anyway So tonight I made a movie looking back on my hair over the years. It’s a kind of homage, celebration, and memorium to what was, and hopefully what will be again. Tell me I’m not the only one? Share your lovely locks on here and we’ll commiserate together (and maybe get a bit of a nice giggle too) Onward and upward, my spiky goddesses! Thanks for listening. Here’s my short movie https://m.facebook.com/770892291/posts/10158089672392292/?d=n201Views0likes6CommentsSwollen parotid gland after chemo for bc
Hi, this is my first time starting a discussion here, I have done a search and can’t find any relevant info so thought I’d ask you wonderful people. I was diagnosed last month with bc and have had 2 rounds of chemo so far. Both times I have developed a swollen parotid/salivary gland 2-3 days post chemo just on one side and went to hospital both times to get it checked out. The doctors say it may or may not be related to the chemo (I’m no doctor but pretty sure it is as I’ve never experienced it before) and just to keep hydrated and try not to get a dry mouth to prevent it and I am on antibiotics now just to ensure it doesn’t get infected. I was just wondering if anyone has had this problem and if so, did it happen after every round? And do you have any other tips to prevent/help get rid of it? Thanks xxx91Views0likes5CommentsThree years ago today...
I was admitted to hospital for nutropenia after my first chemo session. I remember being so sick on that Boxing Day. I spent 7 days in isolation with terrible side effects. During chemo I ended up being admitted for nutropenia a total of four times and was so sick after my third chemo session I didn't think I would make it through treatment. Three years on, here I am cancer free. Except for a new disease, I would be on top of the world. Today is also 26 days since I had major surgery to treat Achalasia (unrelated to BC). I have a new stomach and am re learning how to eat with my new plumbing. Still on mostly liquids and pureed foods, but I get to have lots of cream with everything to stop further weight loss so there's an upside to everything. Three years, two major diseases and I am still here doing fine. I made it through. For all those who are struggling, I hope that your struggles will pass as mine did. Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas.221Views6likes7Comments
