Daffodils

I've put this under "Health and Wellbeing" because for me, it is...

I've just looked out of the kitchen window and noticed that my daffodils are coming out.  These were always considered in our family to be my sister's flowers as they were always blooming for her birthday in September.  This was well before they became a symbol for the cancer organisations.  Since we lost her to BC, this has always seemed a poignant coincidence.  I still love the daffs and I will watch for them flowering where I've planted them amongst the grass across the hillside and every time I look at them, I will think of Lori.

    I remember going to London when I was 19 and seeing masses of daffodils out in Hyde Park (?).  I was thoroughly confused at first because I'd left Autumn in Australia.  

    I wonder if the fields of daffodils are still there in the Blue Mountains, @arpie?

    @Sister  - Yes, they still are & the School still sells them!! ;)  

    I've contacted them to see if they may have a copy of the photo in their archives.

    I don't want to upset anyone but this is a Birthday Memoriam for my sister - my smart, frustrating, gorgeous and tragic sister.  We lost her to breast cancer in 1999 but if this network had been around when she was diagnosed, I'm sure she would have been an active member and I know it would have helped her.  This year, as I have sat in the same waiting rooms as she did, I have almost seen her shadow and some of the tears I have shed have been tears for her.  So, Happy  65th Birthday, Loll (she can have her own identifier).

    @Sister happy birthday to your sister - it’s a gorgeous photo and her t shirt made me laugh - so old school - u wouldn’t see anything like that anymore. It must of been so tough to do a “tour” of the places you went with your sister while u were going through the same bloody horrible experience. Thinking of u today - Steph xoxox

    Lovely photo and lovely post. Happy Happy memories of better times, I'm sure. I too was a little sister, but have now overtaken my Big Brother. He will be forever 39 while I'm now 60. Sending a big hug...

    @Sister Thinking of you. It would have been my sister's 50th birthday this month. She was a difficult person but of course I loved her. I got a bit upset on her birthday, thinking of all the things we would have been doing that day if she was alive. I rang my mother who was thinking about the day she was born, a happier thought. It's difficult. Big hug, K xox

    Thinking of you today @Sister as you grieve for your beloved sister xxx  I am sure that she has been watching over you as you go thru the same treatments and given you strength.  

    I never heard back back from the school re the photo, but my brother (in it) is going up next week and will see if he can get a copy from the archives!  I hope he can take a pic of it, if they find it!

    Thank you everyone. It's a bit of a tricky day.

    Regards: the t-shirt...she also had a Great Gatsby (Redford & Farrow) and a Pancake Kitchen Lovely! one just to complete the blast from the past.
