Alcohol
Hi - I hear so much about what to eat and drink that I am confused. If I drink about 2 glasses of wine a week - will this give me a higher percentage that my breast cancer will reoccur? I have finished radiation and am starting Femora in a week.. any suggestions greatly appreciated

- AfraserMemberI tried that recently - confess I like the German non-alcoholic brands better.
- Patti_JMemberThere is an article in today's "Sydney Morning Herald" about non-alcoholic beer including "Carlton Zero".
- SuwalMemberOh me too! However I had a lovely glass of wine with my mother last night and thoroughly enjoyed it. Moderation seems to be the key
- Doin_itMemberThanks @Sister @melclarity. I feel so very nervous about having a drink & I used to love having a social drink or two
- SuwalMemberThank you for your advice. Everyone has been so positive about what to drink and eat. I agree. All in moderation. I drink one or two glasses a week and perhaps over Christmas that may change. However I want to enjoy whatever I choose to do. Thank you agai. Have a lovely day
- melclarityMemberHey all, Ive been watching this thread and thought Id jump back in and say I also DID ask my Oncologist and also when I did my rehabilitation Program all the Specialists including the Dietician. The Dietician was especially interesting in that she said and she was through the Epworth in Melbourne, that all things in moderation. IT is NO different for any illness or disease. A balanced diet and alcohol does not have to stop at all, its about moderation. If you think about it, they talk of alcohol in general isnt good for anyone in large amounts constantly and for any illness. I really wouldnt get too hung up on it ladies. Ive always said change the things you want but ultimately its about balance and LIVING!!! I only have a red wine probably once a month if Im lucky now and I LOVE IT LOL! but its only because chemo killed it for me in 2015, so I dont really drink much anymore.
So in all things just moderation, most Oncologists will tell you that. x - SisterMemberI did. I asked mine and he said that he reads each new study in the hope that someone says something positive! His advice was moderation. That there's nothing wrong with having a drink as long as it's not turning into an everyday type of thing (I will say here that from his name and cultural allusions, I'm sure his background is Italian). His take on things seems to be about living and enjoying life while still being aware of risks although I may be misrepresenting him with that. I enjoy a drink and in the past have probably drunk too much (let's get rid of the "probably" - I have drunk too much) but I don't want to give it up completely. I would just like to feel more confident about what I do drink on the occasion that I have a glass or two.
I have to say that I'm with @afraser in that the taste of most things - juice, softies, water - gets boring. I do like a chinotto but I don't think zero sugar goes down well with Italians! - Doin_itMemberIt would be great if everyone asked their oncologist. Interested to read all the varied replies
- SuwalMemberThank you. Appreciate the information
- kmakmMember@Suwal I will report back.
