Thanks so much for your comment. You're right about my suspicions concerning 'alternative' medicine. Like you I always want to see the science. If you follow the link in the blog you'll find a summary of the scientifically valid research into cannabis and cancer with a list of references. It was reading through this information that led me to conclude that cannabis is likely to be a cure for at least some cancers. Most recently it's shown promise as a treatment for brain tumours. There's a trial going on now to verify the original research on that type of cancer. I did not come easily to this subject. I simply started researching and kept an open mind.
As for complimentary medicine I'm a big fan. I've used yoga, meditation and massage throughout my treatment with great results and I'm still researching nutrition (what a minefield of misinformation THAT is!). Once again, I want to see the science. Unfortunately there are also some complimentary practices out there that might actually undermine treatment (like high dose anti-oxidants with chemotherapy) I suppose the key difference with complimentary treatments is that they are used along side mainstream treatments rather than as an alternative to them. Either way, I wan't evidence, preferable of the double blind trial standard with publication in a peer reviewed journal.
