I think the dangers of cannibis abuse are very real. My brother has been a heavy user and I believe it has lead to all sorts of problems in his life. However, I have no objections whatsoever with cannibis being used for medical purposes. It seems odd and ccontradictory to me that drugs such as codeine, morphine and pethidine are widely used (aren't they from the same family as heroin?) but cannabis, a milder drug, is outlawed for these purposes.
In fact I'd go further and say I think it is cruel and bloody-minded for the authorities to deny sick and dying people legal access to a drug that would ease their suffering. As for it curing cancer - I've never heard of that - and I must say I'm a bit surpised to see you supporting such an alternative idea. I remember you being very dismissive of alternative (and complimentary) treatments in previous posts. But hey, there could be something in it. I'm all for keeping an open mind as long as there is credible scientific research being done.
You make an excellent and very comprehensive argument for legalisation of cannabis for medical purposes. Perhaps you could submit your post to a newspaper as an article for publication. Lead a campaign. I'm reckon the majority of the population would be right behind you on this.
