Travel Insurance

Here here! Ive always used Covermore also through my 6yr BC Journey. x Melinda 

Oh dear, my usual standby - Covermore - may not be so good in this case, as one of the conditions of cover is that the original cancer has not extended from one location.
Covermore may still be worth contacting though, as my understanding is they will still cover cancellations, luggage, medical etc for anything completely unrelated. So you would still have some cover. The chance of anything related occurring is usually so small (unless you are travelling for six months or so) that it is indeed really infuriating. Good luck.

Hi BronS - travel insurance sure is a source of frustration with metastatic breast cancer. It is so unfair when most of us are quite fit and active - and wanting to travel while we are well. I'm thinking about an overseas trip, and have been googling travel insurance companies - it was looking impossible to find cover if your cancer has spread beyond the primary site. However I did come across one company called AllClear Travel Insurance Australia. It says it specialises in cover for pre-existing medical conditions (the website says "any condition, any age").  I assume it would be very expensive - but it may be worth checking with them?  Good luck - please let us know if you have any success.

Has anyone have any tips?  I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer (lung involvement) in 2015.  For the first time since original breast cancer diagnosis decided to put self first & tick an item off the bucket list & book an overseas holiday. Found a great agent, booked a great holiday, then went away to book insurance.  I have contacted more than 2 dozen insurance companies & none will cover cancellation or anything related to the 'pre-existing medical condition', because it involves a primary organ!!  I still work, though the new med (hormone) makes me tired & increases the hot flushes (joy!!), I am asymptomatic.  But no one will touch me.  Have tried brokers, but haven't bothered to get back to me.
As a side vent, my sister in law & brother are joining me for a portion of the trip, but she has a diagnosed heart condition, on medication, and yet can get cover!!  
Sorry, but when are insurance companies going to treat people as individuals & not just a tick box on a computer screen!!!
My holiday is in May.  Has anyone got any suggestions?

I used BUPA as they are my private health provider, they were cheaper and new my history did have to pay a little more to be covered for breast cancer but it was still cheaper than travel agents recommendation..

Thanks Michelle.  I finished radiation on 9 Feb so this might be a problem

I use Covermore too - have never needed to claim, but everything is covered so long as you were diagnosed over 6 months ago, have not had chemo/rads for 6 months, your cancer never progressed beyond the original site, and your trip is for less than 6 months.
