Hi Bj. I'm a 12C and had a single mastectomy as well as 7 lymph glands removed 9 weeks ago. I decided to go flat and really pleased with the result. I wore the Berlei bra with the soft insert which was ok and did the job (a bit of trial & error to get the stuffing right!). I also wore a crop top at times as well as the Berlei bra without the soft insert. I do a lot of walking & hiking and didn't feel lopsided. In the early weeks my skin/scar area was a bit sensitive and found the Berlei ones didn't cause much irritation.
I now have an Amoena Adapt Air Prosthesis which is so much better. I've only had it a week but I forget that I'm wearing it most of the time. I also have the Amoena bras which are great, especially the Eliza style - depending on your size this style may even be ok for running. I play a lot of tennis so a prosthesis was important for me - just need to find a supportive pocketed sports bra now. If you're in Melbourne, I can recommend Femmeline in Croydon who were very helpful and knowledgeable. All the best🙂

Hi Fee5 , thanks so much for sharing your experience. That's great to hear that you are back to some activities after only 9 weeks - that certainly gives me hope! I'm currently wearing the Amoena Pamela post surgery bra that my surgeon recommended, which sits well on the flat side and is pretty comfy. I don't think it would work for running so I'll check out the Eliza you've mentioned. I'm in Central Vic but I think there's a specialist fitter in Ballarat. I'll check out the air prosthesis, thanks for the tip! Hopefully the fitter can recommend a suitable bra for running. I still have a bit of swelling under my armpit and the scar is quite tender and sensitive. Trying to be patient! But it seems to be improving every day. Thanks again for your insights :-)
