Staying flat…what’s it like being “lopsided”?
Hi everyone, I had a left mastectomy over a week ago and have decided to stay flat. My breasts are fairly small (B cup), so hopefully I won’t feel too lopsided weight wise. I’m keen to hear from others who have decided to stay flat on one side. Have you had any physical issues? Do you always wear a prosthesis? I’ve got the free Berlei bra with the soft inserts, which I’m yet to try. In time I’ll get fitted for a proper prosthesis for when I want symmetry. But I’m thinking I don’t need to wear one when running or hiking…or do I? Are there bras out there that can be worn to support my remaining breast without wearing a prosthesis? I have requested to join the Flat Chat group but I’m waiting on approval. I just wanted to put it out there and hear others experiences. Thanks legends xx170Views1like13CommentsProsthetic Bra for Pacemaker
I'm enquiring for my girlfriend (with dementia) who has had a mastectomy and is having trouble finding a prosthetic bra which suits a pacemaker. All bras seem to have their strap going over the top of the pacemaker which causes rubbing and irritation. At present she is pinning her bra strap to her sleeve. We did find some very comfy playtex bras but they don't have a pocket so the prosthesis is slipping down.Any suggestions would be grateful. I am also a breast cancer survivor helping my friend with this.75Views0likes5CommentsTraveling with prosthesis
Hello everyone - I recently went to Perth airport to see some friends off. I went through the Virgin security and was unceremoniously patted down in public ! I don’t EVER want to go through that again ! We will be traveling domestically in two weeks so I’m looking for advice and support. Tissues have been suggested to use as padding - so has the water foam prosthesis - can anyone give me suggestions that have worked for them please. My husband has Alzeimers so my emphasis is on him - I can’t be taken away from him as he will become confused and distressed - thanks so very much 💗274Views0likes11CommentsTravelling with a prosthesis
Hi all, At the risk of sounding silly...... I am going to Europe in February, and am wondering whether my breast prosthesis (silicone) will set off any alarms or alerts when going through customs, more specifically if I have to go through one of those full body scanner things. Shoould I get a letter from the doctor to explain what it is, just in case? Also, I had been thinking about changing to a lighter style of prosthesis filled with some kind of granulated material rather than silicone, but I wonder whether that would be even more suspicious looking? I would be interested in people's experiences Thanks Jane447Views0likes17Comments
