I was recommended partial breast radiation after my surgery to remove a second breast cancer (I've had bilateral breast cancer). I was concerned it might be less effective in reducing the risk of recorrence than standard radiation treatment. I did quite a bit of research and found that it was generally as effective as standard radiotherapy, so I went ahead with it. The actual process of treatment was very similar to the standard treatment and I didn't notice any real difference in side-effects between the 2 treatment modalities. However, I subsequently found I had a genetic mutation that increases my BC risk, so my surgeon told me the full radiation treatment would probably have been the best option for me.
