Forum Discussion
- Mez_BCNACommunity ManagerHi @June1952, You can navigate to the 'Discussions' at the top on the blue banner which will give you ALL of the discussions currently happening in the Online Network and it is in the old format that you are used to with Announcements at the top and peer to peer discussions thereafter. It is only the Homepage that has changed to give you a quick snapshot of the most recent and trending discussions. I have posted a short video that I can share here as well and I hope it helps:
Reach out if you need further assistance. - arpieMemberThanks @Mez_BCNA - that is brilliant!
YAY!! I hadn't spotted the 'newest' option being available in the Search Area ... That will make searches MUCH more efficient, as most would want to read the newer threads first, rather that old ones ....
Is there any way that Vanilla can make 'newest' as the 'default' first option and then members can choose the 'best match' or 'oldest' if they prefer? I am pretty sure it was on 'best match' when I used it earlier today (and didn't notice the other options) - and whilst more recent ones 'were' at the top, not all were - so the 'newest' would be most useful for most members, I reckon. - AfraserMemberIt looks much better on my laptop, looks quite awful on my phone though. Lacks much differentiation in text there.
- Mez_BCNACommunity ManagerThankyou @Arpie That is a good question to ask Vanilla, I can put that forward. Thankyou for the feedback @Afraser, I will ask the developers whether there is any way to improve the appearance that is experienced through devices
- June1952MemberThank you @Mez_BCNA - this oldie did not even notice that fine blue banner !!!
Having no kids/grandkids we are well behind the 8 ball when trying to use online sites. 🤣🤣
No doubt we will all get used to it as we did when it changed some years ago.
Thanks again. - Annie_CMemberThe new look online network is far more suitable for me. Advanced glaucoma is robbing me of much of my sight. Any BCNA member who has advanced glaucoma will understand the challenges of undertaking daily life, playing with hobbies and accessing the internet. Those members who have advanced glaucoma will appreciate the need for clear, uncluttered websites. The new look BCNA website fullfills these requirements. The font is a suitable size without the need for screen enlargement. The background is light and bright which ensures that the font stands out. There are many informative websites that exclude me because they are "pretty" with coloured print on coloured backgrounds. The line spacing ensures that those of us who are mono visioned are able to align easily without our eyes "jumping" lines of print that are spaced too closely. The new look online website suits me. And if this nearly blind older woman has been able to navigate around and discover the features by being willing to "play", I am sure that others more sighted are able to.Sometimes it is most necessary to put ourselves in someone elses shoes................Well done BCNA.
- Julez1958MemberHi yes I like the new layout , took a little while to navigate around it but now I’m there.
- TonyaMMemberOh this is dreadful- didn’t know about this change. It’s difficult using it on my phone and I can’t find anything. And I guess it cost a fortune to fix something that wasn’t broken.
- iserbrownMemberThere's a link above, video. I am mobile only at present and found it easy enough.
Drop down box left side of banner takes you to Groups, discussions et cetera
Mention is made earlier in this post of Mez asking Vanilla about the definition with varying devices
