Mucionous Cancer Grade2

Hi not very good at this. Still trying to get my head around it all.
Diagnosed in May with 13mm Mucinous Cancer Grade 2. Lymph Glands are clear. E&P+ Her-. Surgery in June which didn't get it all so back for more surgery in July. Surgeon took a total of 200g from my right breast going all the way back to my chest wall. I am to have 3 weeks Radiation on the whole breast and also Hormone therapy for 5 years. Got through 1st surgery really well however struggling with the 2nd. Once the swelling started to go down my nipple was stuck in scar tissue which twisted it and pulled it to the right. Has this happened to anyone else. Breast care nurse thought the pain I was experiencing was nerve damage and suggested I massage the breast to desensitise it. while doing this I felt a ripping sensation which was the scar tissue releasing the nipple. Thank God the pain resided. Starting radiation on Wednesday so don't know what to expect with that. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

    @Loveglen welcome and good on you for posting your experience, although I’m so sorry to hear about the scar catching your nipple - it sounds like an unwelcome ordeal 🌸 very big virtual hugs to you.
    I didn’t have that experience but after surgery (12 m ago) I developed some scarring; it is helped by laser and stretching exercises with the breast specialist physio. Might be something for you to consider once you have put radiation behind you. 
    Radiation therapy (15 sessions) went smoothly for me - towards the end I was tired and my skin did redden and I got a bit of an itchy rash but it only took about a week or so to resolve, nothing serious. But as we come to know, people’s experiences can vary, so there’s every likelihood you may have no problems at all 🌻 
    I am now on hormone therapy (an oestrogen suppressing drug, aka aromatase inhibitor) called Letrozole) and this treatment is a new phase and also affects people differently. On the BCNA network there’s so many informative discussions about it, and there’s also BCNA website podcasts and videos about treatment for oestrogen positive breast cancer. Sometimes hormone therapy is referred to as endocrine therapy.

    Sorry to see you join us, @Loveglen ... Hopefully we'll be able to help with any of your queries xx.  

    Nerve damage can take quite a while 'reconnect' .... and some shooting pains may even happen.   I found my 4 weeks of radiation to be almost 'relaxing' once it started - thinking about it stirred me up more than actually 'doing it'!  The Rads nurses will advise you on lotions & potions - just keep moisturising the area often after each session ... and continue for 3-4 weeks after you've finished the rads.  You'll notice that the breast area will actually feel quite 'warm' even after it finishes - all the more reason to keep the lotions & potions up to it xx

    Also, if you'd like to check out other areas of the forum, check out this post - it has lots of info on 'off topic' threads, like showing off our gardens, our pets, art & craft etc.  At the bottom, are some 'tick sheets' that you can print off - to 'self assess' yourself, both mentally and physically, in between your team visits.   Sometimes it is easier to give them a printed copy of how you are going, than talking about it xx
