Did I run over someone in a past life?
I think I am paying for some past life crime or something. I have been feeling unwell for the past week and even ended up in emergency again after my GP examined me last Thursday as she thought my right lung was 'quiet', supposedly should be noisy when listened to through a stethoscope, and I had a mild temp as well. I find it's sometimes hard to tell with temperature because of the damn hot flushes. So off we went to emergency (we can just about point the car and let it drive itself). Apparently I fainted in the waiting area which scared the hell out of my husband but we got into the treatment area quick smart, a bit of a perk :). The treating Doctor also thought my lung was 'quiet' so I had more tests - bloods, chest X-ray, CT scan and urine test. We were there for hours. Soooooo boring! Fortunately, most of the tests were okay apart from one small blood clot which appears to be blocking an artery in my upper right lung. According to the Doc, it is concerning but not overly so and they let me go home. I was told I'd be a little short of breath especially if I overdid things and to be careful. If I notice I am having more difficulties breathing, he said to get down to emergency. Well that's stating the obvious isn't it.
To top all this off, today I phoned my GP as directed by the hospital to check on the urine test results and what do you know, I have a UTI and am now on antibiotics. I don't have any burning sensation just a frequent urge to go but my GP said the infection might be an upper UTI which apparently doesn't have that symptom. She said we might have to have some tests on my kidneys.
Well at least I now know why I'm so tired and lethargic. A result of yet another infection. I may need to have an exorcism performed soon LOL

Oh Janey, that is so unfair, all of it lovely. I did at first think there must have been a spunky Doc that was encouraging you and then l read your post so now l kow it was lol. Take care of you, another crappy hurdle you amaing ladies must face, but you go a head and put "your big girl knickers on" and smash this out of the park too. Thinking of you. xxx
- I think I just got a dodgy nurse rather than my veins deciding to run for the hills, ha ha. At least I hope so. I don't like to think I will need a port at this stage after going through months of needles already without a problem. Oh well, if I do, so be it. Anyway, how are things with you? Thinking of you and sounds like you are still being put through the wringer luvly. Not fair. I also always have problems with getting blood now but I won't let them use my other arm and they always manage to come up with some other lil piece of equipment which helps. I think my viens see needles these days and go a runnin for them thar hills.
I really hope things improve for you as this is the time when you should be feeling better and getting on top of it all.

- I see you are still awake too. I was worn out from the stress of today and thought I'd sleep like a baby but I just can't seem to shut off my mind. Thanks for your tip on hydrating, I usually drink plenty of water but I must admit that I haven't been drinking as much in the last day or two, haven't felt too well. This morning I was in such a rush (slept in) that I didn't have breakfast which certainly wouldn't have helped. I did swig a bottle on the way to hospital but too late I guess. - Wow Janey, certainly good and bad news. Great about you kidneys. Bummer about the needles. I hear you re the veins. I have taken blood for a living and my tip to you is always be really well hydrated. Not only on the day of your test, but also the day before. Not all in one hit either, just drink small amounts often. It will make it so much easier for the nurses taking your blood. At least that will make something a bit easier for you. I guess it is all about keeping you well and clot free. Even though it is sensible, it doesn't make it any easier for you. Take care. Th king of you. Paula x

- Good and bad news today. Not too bad though. The good news is I don't have to have tests on my kidneys. My Onc told me today she doesn't believe I have a problem as I don't present with any of the 'normal' symptoms to indicated kidney damage and the antibiotics are kicking in and seem to be doing the trick. We will keep an eye on it though. The bad news came when I then went to see the Haematologist next. I was hoping to be put on a tablet form of Clexane instead of having twice daily injections which have left my poor thighs black and blue and I'm literally running out of spots to put the needle next (not a fan of needles in the buttocks thank you very much). Sadly I will need to continue having injections for another six months at least, Doc says she isn't keen on the tablet form as not enough is known about what it could adversely effect when it comes to all my other treatments. But I will only need one needle a day which is something. Another shock is that I may have to continue blood thinning meds for the rest of my life. I hate needles!!!!!! Arrrrrrr. Although in the future I may be able to switch to warfarin. Had twelve vials of blood taken for testing to see if I'm predisposed to DVTs (and other assorted tests) and if we need to decide on the lifetime supply. I really hope my veins aren't packing it in after all the time as the path nurse had a lot of trouble finding a functioning vein in my right arm and had to swap to the left. Consequently my right arm is now well bruised and the left one bled look the proverbial stuck pig due to the thinners. I was walking to my car when I felt my arm was wet and blood was running down my arm. I hastily retreated back to pathology and had to sit there for another 15 minutes before the bleeding stopped. That's scary! It's brought home how careful I'll need to be. Oh well things could be a lot worse I know and I can count myself lucky in that. I'm not doing too badly compared to some of our pink sisters so I'm thinking of all of you right now and sending hugs. Lots of love Janey xxx
