Hi I recently recieved "The Beacon" and decided to join but having trouble navigating the site as to how I can recieve emails or chat online with other members. help!!!!

Hi chez and welcome to the network :) Have you had a look at the Help page yet? It's here: http://bcna.org.au/help. There's a simple user guide on there that will answer some of your questions.
The 'Getting Started' group is also a good place to go to if you want to find others to chat to (there's a 'Get Connected' post there where you can introduce yourself). You can also search for others on the network search page, either by username if you know who you're looking for, or by other characteristics. It's here: http://bcna.org.au/network/users.
To find your messages, just click on the 'inbox' link in your profile. You can't receive external email there, but you can send private messages to other members.
