On Our Walks
A while back there was a lovely thread of sunrises that the early risers among us posted. I loved it, so I thought I'd broaden it to a thread for all the lovely sights we see as we do our slow staggers through chemo, or those walks we take after active treatment has finished and we're trying to get our strength and fitness back.
In Melbourne today the weather was sunny, still and mild; perfect for a walk. I have followed my GP to a small town in the Yarra Valley (a good GP is worth the 30 minute drive I reckon), and right outside her surgery is the start of a beautifully laid out walking track. It's 7kms long and I've been keen to explore it. So today I walked halfway along it and back. At over 7kms it was the longest walk I've done since the day before chemo!

- gumnutMemberA couple of days r&r in the Whitsundays with a great morning bush walk - feeling very grateful 😀

In March last year straight after the fires, it rained and flooded at Moruya. Trees and branches were washed down the river and ended up on Shelly Beach. People got creative and built many structures and cubbies on the beach.

A young Melburnian of Polynesian descent once dived off that cliff into the river to raise money for charity - an audience of tens of thousands apparently!
- jennyssMemberDear @Afraser,
Wow. I thought 'Yarra River, that's in the middle of Melbourne'. But I googled and learnt that there are some good walking trails along the windy river. That cliff looks fantastic.
I also realised that your post is the first in 'On our walks' since July last year. I'm sure we've been walking, just not posting photos. I'll have to hunt up some photos. - AfraserMemberAn almost normal day! Walking along the Yarra, coffee at Abbotsford Convent
- kmakmMember@jennyss Yes!
- jennyssMemberLove all the shots; but especially the first one with the gulls and texture of the walk way, and the last one with the amazing colours of the sunset (was it sunset?)
- SisterMemberYou guys know how I feel about the beach...it's a place that washes your mind clean. I can't wait to get back to it.
- kmakmMemberI took the opportunity of having the younger children absent from the house, and a glorious sunny day, to escape on a day trip to a part of Victoria I hadn't previously visited. I did a great deal of walking, filled my lungs with sea air, and came home at the end of the day feeling refreshed.
- AfraserMemberWalking my every day but we are back in lockdown! I’m getting to know the neighbourhood really well!
