On Our Walks
A while back there was a lovely thread of sunrises that the early risers among us posted. I loved it, so I thought I'd broaden it to a thread for all the lovely sights we see as we do our slow staggers through chemo, or those walks we take after active treatment has finished and we're trying to get our strength and fitness back.
In Melbourne today the weather was sunny, still and mild; perfect for a walk. I have followed my GP to a small town in the Yarra Valley (a good GP is worth the 30 minute drive I reckon), and right outside her surgery is the start of a beautifully laid out walking track. It's 7kms long and I've been keen to explore it. So today I walked halfway along it and back. At over 7kms it was the longest walk I've done since the day before chemo!

Local photographer Shane Chalker took this one - TinksMemberHi @jennyss, my best local walk is the linear park herein Adelaide, runs along the river Torrens, it’s like being in the country in places, have to watch out if bikes are behind you though!! Footpaths are bike paths...Tinks xx
- gumnutMemberFrom my morning walk this morning- the best part was that as I arrived at the beach, a whale was just passing by - my first sighting for the season. I just love seeing the whales, we’ve only lived in this area for a little under 2 years and I’m still amazed by them.
- jennyssMemberDear @Tinks,
Yes, I do go for a walk every day. I have every reason to try and keep fit! I am lucky, I live at the edge of a rural village, so I can walk a big block or little block, or walk up the hill to the water tower. What is your walking situation? I am also looking forward to my seniors exercise class starting again. Our 84 yr old leader focuses on balance, flexibility, co-ordination (LOL) and strength (using resistance bands). It is great fun.
Best wishes from jennyss - TinksMemberthanks @jennyss! Radiotherapy is finished thankfully, but the fatigue isn’t! Just taking each day as it comes, walking to limits of tiredness, try to start the long process, for me anyway, for reconditioning my battered body. Do you go out every morning? Tinks xx
- jennyssMemberDear @Tinks,
and how is your radiotherapy going? - TinksMemberWaiting outside of course, for delayed Radiotherapy give a chance to look at this beautiful old tree in the parklands.
- jennyssMemberOn my walk yesterday morning: sunrise and birds everywhere; followed by pouring rain one hour later.
Best wishes to all from jennyss in Western NSW - jennyssMemberOn my walk up the hill behind my place ant hills like this are springing up everywhere. The ants are taking advantage of the soft ground after all our lovely rain to renovate and extend their homes.
- kmakmMemberThe 12yo and I went for a lovely walk along the Steels Creek Track yesterday.
