On Our Walks
A while back there was a lovely thread of sunrises that the early risers among us posted. I loved it, so I thought I'd broaden it to a thread for all the lovely sights we see as we do our slow staggers through chemo, or those walks we take after active treatment has finished and we're trying to get our strength and fitness back.
In Melbourne today the weather was sunny, still and mild; perfect for a walk. I have followed my GP to a small town in the Yarra Valley (a good GP is worth the 30 minute drive I reckon), and right outside her surgery is the start of a beautifully laid out walking track. It's 7kms long and I've been keen to explore it. So today I walked halfway along it and back. At over 7kms it was the longest walk I've done since the day before chemo!

- SisterMemberThe Pines, Yorke Peninsula, this morning (5kms!) Walking on the sandbars.
- kmakmMemberFairhaven Beach yesterday.
- j9kMember@JJ70 the last time I attempted a cartwheel (to show a child what one looks like) I didn't factor in the increased weight of my legs, decreased upper body strength and generally reduced flexibility and agility from when I was a child, and nearly ripped out my groin muscle! Note to self - brain must remember age and state of body when attempting future demonstrations! Good on you for still managing the wheel! :D
- Doin_itMember@JJ70 you go girl!!! Love it xx
- jennyssMemberForgot to say, Dear @"Annie C" , thanks for the frogmouth photo and story. Please post more photos.
- jennyssMemberGoodness me, We'll have to start a new thread - can't get up off the ground!*?! I have a special method which I can't describe to get myself back up. When I start Encore group in a couple of weeks I hope I can get an exercise to build my strength in the legs. And dear @JJ70, thanks for the photo of the beautiful beach and very impressive cartwheel!
- SisterMemberI couldn't straighten up when I got out of the car yesterday...but to be fair, that was happening before Letrozole. I think it's probably just menopause related (or a symptom of not looking after my joints well enough before I got old!).
