On Our Walks
A while back there was a lovely thread of sunrises that the early risers among us posted. I loved it, so I thought I'd broaden it to a thread for all the lovely sights we see as we do our slow staggers through chemo, or those walks we take after active treatment has finished and we're trying to get our strength and fitness back.
In Melbourne today the weather was sunny, still and mild; perfect for a walk. I have followed my GP to a small town in the Yarra Valley (a good GP is worth the 30 minute drive I reckon), and right outside her surgery is the start of a beautifully laid out walking track. It's 7kms long and I've been keen to explore it. So today I walked halfway along it and back. At over 7kms it was the longest walk I've done since the day before chemo!

- We did a bit of bushwalking on the weekend (24,000 steps).
- We now have a French exchange student for five weeks so I've been showing her around a bit. Not much $$ available so we've been doing scenic walking...

And the Yarra Valley on Sunday: - -1 this morning. Rugged up to the max at the start; that had changed by the time I'd trudged up the hill.
- One of my sons just arrived home from basketball and came face to face with Arnold Schwarzenegger the kangaroo.Arnie had clearly pumped a lot of iron so James moved swiftly inside.
- @arpie @kitkatb I love Willy Wag tails, so curious and sassy. I have one that gives the local magies heaps of jip. He/she comes and chirps to me when I am in the vegie patch - hoping I'll turn over some insects or worms I suspect as it seems to inspect the ground where I and have been and follow me around. Must be telling me ALL the local secrets. Pity I can't speak WW - I think I'd be completely amused!
- My husband is indigenous @arpie and he has lots of little gems like that which have been passed down.
Glad you got your Yak sorted out. Hubby home in a couple of weeks and got a few day trips planned on the water. :) Have just spent a day in the spare room cleaning all of his fishing gear up which had virtually spread over the entire floor. I always vow I am not going in there again but i always do when it gets the better of me. I even get lures in the bathroom and toilet when he is working on a new design. :/ - Well, I didn't know that, @kitkatb !! Maybe he told me where the fish were - I had a blast!! About to go out again today!!!
I had a slow leak in the yak after that outing but a local panel beater was able to locate the weak spot & did some plastic welding on it & now, back in the game! :) NEVER fun when you find a bucket of water inside your yak! grr - Willy Wagtails @arpie are meant to be the " teller of secrets " when they come near you. xox
- It was actually on one of my paddles (not walks) that a lovely little Willy Wag Tail joined me on the yak!
- Sadly, my other half pulled up my beautiful re Guava bush .... so no more guava jam! :( (The downside to dementia - you never know what you'll find 'done' when you get home from shopping!) grrr
