On Our Walks
A while back there was a lovely thread of sunrises that the early risers among us posted. I loved it, so I thought I'd broaden it to a thread for all the lovely sights we see as we do our slow staggers through chemo, or those walks we take after active treatment has finished and we're trying to get our strength and fitness back.
In Melbourne today the weather was sunny, still and mild; perfect for a walk. I have followed my GP to a small town in the Yarra Valley (a good GP is worth the 30 minute drive I reckon), and right outside her surgery is the start of a beautifully laid out walking track. It's 7kms long and I've been keen to explore it. So today I walked halfway along it and back. At over 7kms it was the longest walk I've done since the day before chemo!

- SisterMemberStunning!
- JJ70MemberWOWSA Kate! @kmakm -stunning. Glad you are on more adventures and are enjoying the summer. xx
- kmakmMemberLast January was chemotherapy, twice, and the plans for the summer were shot. I promised myself I'd make it up to the kids this year and I reckon we have.
My sister gave us some money for Christmas to go away for a few days so we booked an Airbnb on Raymond Island in the Gippsland Lakes. Don't know this part of the world at all; only been through the area once 20 years ago. Wow! Went for a walk this evening. Perfection! - jennyssMemberGreat photo - really draws you in. And very good that you can walk further now.
- SarnicadMemberOn a walk around Melbourne today. The city was looking pretty. Three months ago I couldn’t have walked as far as I did today lots to be thankful for
- Annie_CMemberHello everyone
Back in Broome for a few days. So, some more photos for you.
Cable Beach at evening low tide at 05:45pm. Note the now well exposed rocks on the beach that are well covered at high tide.
Mangroves in Roebuck Bay, Broome.
Photo was taken from the new Streeters Jetty Lookout.
Those who are experiencing high temperatures, you are not orphans, the current temperature in Broome at 08:00pm is 32 degrees with the humidity at 82%. Resort airconditioner is humming away merrily. - SisterMemberHot in town but cool here at the beach.
- JJ70MemberIdiotic @"Annie C"...prevention rather than cure...as we all know so well. Probably all for the sake of tourism - can't have the famous Cable Beach closed for half the year!! ($$$)
- arpieMemberIrikanji are no fun - I reckon hundreds have 'drowned/cardiac arrest' over the decades, but really died from being stung by irikanji (all over the top end, even found now down to Fraser Island in Qld.) They are so tiny, they don't leave the big welt marks of Blue Bottles & other stingers ..... yet they reckon only 2 have died! How would they know! They weren't even identified as a threat until the 50s & not made public to the actual public til probably the 70s or later!
