On Our Walks
A while back there was a lovely thread of sunrises that the early risers among us posted. I loved it, so I thought I'd broaden it to a thread for all the lovely sights we see as we do our slow staggers through chemo, or those walks we take after active treatment has finished and we're trying to get our strength and fitness back.
In Melbourne today the weather was sunny, still and mild; perfect for a walk. I have followed my GP to a small town in the Yarra Valley (a good GP is worth the 30 minute drive I reckon), and right outside her surgery is the start of a beautifully laid out walking track. It's 7kms long and I've been keen to explore it. So today I walked halfway along it and back. At over 7kms it was the longest walk I've done since the day before chemo!

- Mine had eased after going off Letrozole and on to Exemestane @kmakm @Sister ..... but the last week-10 days has been a shocker! :( AND I am not playing uke just now (our break!), so not exacerbating it either! :( Indocid just isn't cutting it, pain wise - I am feeling the pain/discomfort when fishing too! :(
- Definitely the meds. I know the level of arthritis I had before I was diagnosed - In 2010, I almost had surgery on my left thumb it was SO bad ..... but this is different! Just debilitating & 24/7 painful (even with anti inflams!) grrrr
- I have no grip anymore - can't take any weight on one hand and have managed to damage the tendon on one finger. It's so bloody annoying - it's probably an exacerbation of the beginning of arthritis but I did think that I had a lot more years before it would get this bad.
- Letrozole severely impacts my hand flexibility @Sister. I'm 52 and my hand dexterity is almost fully back to normal towards the end of my one month off the AI. A month ago I was dropping stuff...
- Very windy here too @Sister .... dammit - but at least it keeps the temps down for us! ;) My hands have been a shocker the last few days ... really painful - not sure why - but blaming the meds. grrr
Re the uke ... take it slowly - 10 mins a day ..... work on something that you know REALLY well ..... OR.... just do the C chord and sing Kookaburra sits in the old gum tree! ;)
or - The Beat Goes On (Sonny & Cher) ;) - Not sure what Adelaide is like today but it's generally much cooler here by the sea (different story down the back). Can't get out on the paddleboard today as it's too windy😞
Absolutely, no videos! I'm bad (and I don't mean teenspeak good) - Letrozole doesn't help the hand flexibility, either...or is that just age? - NICE VIEW, down by the water - do you get a calling breeze there, to counteract the high temps Adelaide are currently getting?? (Pic is small - but click on it & get normal size!)
YAY!! Well done YOU for giving the uke a go! When do we see a video?? ;) Let me know if you want ANY SONGS! I have THOUSANDS! ;) - I'm not sure if the photos upload is going to work as it's behaving strangely but the again, I'm cheating a bit - I did walk here this morning but currently strumming a uke (very badly).
