On Our Walks
A while back there was a lovely thread of sunrises that the early risers among us posted. I loved it, so I thought I'd broaden it to a thread for all the lovely sights we see as we do our slow staggers through chemo, or those walks we take after active treatment has finished and we're trying to get our strength and fitness back.
In Melbourne today the weather was sunny, still and mild; perfect for a walk. I have followed my GP to a small town in the Yarra Valley (a good GP is worth the 30 minute drive I reckon), and right outside her surgery is the start of a beautifully laid out walking track. It's 7kms long and I've been keen to explore it. So today I walked halfway along it and back. At over 7kms it was the longest walk I've done since the day before chemo!

Found him, the noisy big thing! This peacock has been wandering around the town for years and years. It seems he is suffering greatly from lack of female company and spends half the night calling mournfully for a mate. Sorry for the poor quality pic, but his lordship is perched at least 10m up in a huge gum tree down by the river and it was 6.00 am. His tail is truly spectacular--I have no idea how he gets off the ground given the volume of it, but he does.
- Lovely photo @arpie, @jennyss the water is Morton Bay in Brisbane and the ‘Mountain’ is Stradbroke Island ☺️ We live close to the water-harbour beach, but I love the sea breeze, water view and sunshine ☀️

I think that poinciana trees in full bloom are the most regal of trees. We have a dozen on our block of various heights and ages. I am still planting more. Your photo does justice to the tree. A most stunning photo. - @JJ70
The people in the photo are the Mowanjum Dance Group. The photo was taken out at Munkayjarra. If it is the Dutch photographer I am thinking of she was in town about a year ago for the Boab Festival. - @"Annie C" Just found this pic on FB. A Dutch photographer has been roaming the world celebrating indigenous cultures. This family are from Derby. I think the photo is exquisitely beautiful....as long as the people in it do not feel exploited.

I hope to get back again next year - probably the North Island tho - catch up with family & friends ..... and I wanna catch a NZ Snapper & Kingie from kayak! ;) - @JJ70
